Event Coordinator
Built In is the largest network of online communities for technology companies and startups. We connect talent to startups, cover local tech news and host events. Headquartered in Chicago, we operate Built In Chicago, Built In LA, Built In Colorado, Built In Austin, Built In Boston and Built In NYC. We are a venture-backed startup and are now operating in six markets with aggressive growth plans and need an event coordinator to support planning, administrative and logistical duties for events in all markets.
Responsibilities
The Event Coordinator responsibilities include maintaining the day-to-day tasks related to event management and promotion. This role will be responsible for simultaneously juggling multiple projects and acting as a host and face of Built In at events. Ideal candidates must be organized event planners that will see a project through from start to finish. We’re seeking an organized and detailed planner who can thrive in a busy environment at a fast-growing company.
Ideal Background/Skillset
Minimum of 1 year event planning experience
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
Experience with event management software such as Eventbrite, MeetUp Pages, etc.
Experience securing and managing relationships with vendors
Polished written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Google Docs, Powerpoint, Word
Organization and time management skills to succeed in a fast paced environment
Flexible personality –Thrive on change while remaining highly organized, optimistic, and coachable. High energy and contagious enthusiasm help too.
Communication- Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely, and compellingly. Honesty, transparency, and thoughtfulness are a must. Ability to present complex messages to multiple levels of an organization and survey for needs without relying on PowerPoint decks.
Interest in the tech industry – you must be passionate about three things: (1) Startups (2) Building innovative tech products and services; and (3) Helping others. This is what we do. This is non-negotiable.
Willingness to work around the clock, or sort of – The job involves working some evenings and weekends, and responding to customers outside of work hours. If you are passionate about the company and what you are creating, this will not appear as a job but yet a combination of life and work.
