A great user interface is essential to us achieving our vision of empowering landlords and tenants across the United States. We build interfaces that are simple, functional and delight our customers. We stress over all the details that go into that interaction so our users don't have to. We're looking for front-end engineers to accelerate our work on creating simple, intuitive interactions. You'll work closely with the founders, customers and designers to create and improve beautiful forms, interactions and more. 


Rentalutions provides the tools and resources do-it-yourself landlords need to manage their rental properties. With the help of technology, we help landlords find, screen and keep quality tenants. For the second year in a row, we’ve been named by Business Insider as one of “The 25 Coolest New Business”. And our customers agree. In the past 12 months, the business has grown significantly and we’re looking to expand the team. 


If you’re an experienced front-end engineer with a passion for designing and implementing front-end architecture, then we want you to join our fun and collaborative team. This is a full-time position in our Chicago, IL office. We are not offering contracts or remote opportunities at present.
You will:
  • Enjoy being hands-on, not only strategizing front-end software architecture, but implementing it.
  • Write semantic, modular front-end code using HTML, CSS and JavaScript with a focus on friendly design and user experience.
  • Translate high fidelity designs to workable code, but also be able to do basic implementations based on abstract concepts
  • Play a significant role in requirement-gathering, design and development, to implementation of both small and large-scale projects
  • Focus on the front-end, but with experience in back-end in order to understand the impact and ramifications of architectural decisions on the front-end.
  • Be an advocate for good, clean, well-documented and performant front-end code; Follow standards and best practices for front-end development.
  • Help paint the vision for future feature enhancements and the overall product roadmap.
You're a great fit if:
  • Minimum of 2 years experience developing web pages and front-end solutions from provided wireframes and designs
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with HTML/CSS, JavaScript/jQuery
  • Experience with designing and implementing front-end architecture
  • Experience with front-end frameworks, such as Backbone, Angular, Knockout, AmberJS, etc.
  • Strong understanding of OOP programming and MVC architecture
  • Familiar with test-driven development
  • Strong cross-browser experience
  • Positive attitude, commitment to the continuous development of your technical expertise, strong work ethic and service-oriented mindset
Nice to haves:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, or equivalent work experience
  • A good eye for design and user experience
  • Experience with responsive design and mobile-first design
