Front End Engineer - Remote
As part of our User Experience team, you would be joining a small but passionate group of individuals who work daily to improve our user’s experience. We work with Product to help scope, design, and test new features and interfaces. We work with Engineering to help breathe life into those interfaces and bring them to our users. We work with Customer Success to understand and address existing pain points.
Your job? To be an integral part of that team, understanding the value of user experience while getting your hands dirty in the code.
Hireology is based in Chicago, but our Engineering and UX teams work remotely, so you’ll have the option of working from the comfort of your home or right in our office if you’re local. Compensation is very competitive, and we offer a full benefits package.
The things you will do:
- Work with the Product and User Experience team to identify new features and functionality
- Work with Engineering teams to develop new features with HTML, JavaScript, and React on the front end, integrating with Ruby on Rails on the back end
- Work with Engineering teams to convert prototypes to working views in the application
- Refactor HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to follow front-end standards
- Pair with both Engineering and User Experience teams to solve problems collaboratively
- Be passionate about growing professionally
- Handle hotfixes for any front end issues that may be discovered
- Work to improve how we write and test Javascript
- Investigate new front end technologies and how they might be applied to improve the user experience
- Manage global CSS/SASS to ensure it follows BEM conventions and is clean, consistent, and efficient.
What you need:
- Minimum three years of experience in a software development role (Engineer, Designer, QA, Project Manager)
- Passion for creating great user experiences on multiple devices
- Solid understanding of HTML, CSS/SASS, and responsive development
- Understanding of JavaScript design patterns and frameworks (in particular React)
- Knowledge of Node.js, npm, and webpack
- Knowledge of Git (or other source control systems)
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
