Head of Business Intelligence and Analytics
GoHealth has an ambitious mission: to improve the health care system in America. Achieving this mission relies on hiring and developing great people, which is why our team is our top priority. We encourage employees to do their best work through innovation and risk taking. Our environment is fun yet constructive, thanks to leaders whose doors are always open. And most importantly, we’ll never stop investing in you and your career.
GoHealth is looking for a Head of Business Intelligence and Analytics to lead a data science team with a diverse set of capabilities ranging from analysis-driven strategic exploration (supporting executive leadership) to proactive development of business intelligence (supporting critical operations) to prototyping data-driven operational tools in collaboration with a marketing team (supporting downstream product development). This leader will be responsible for providing strategic and technical direction for this team, attracting top-caliber talent to fill gaps in capabilities and infrastructure, and effectively using data to provide business leaders with key insights, strategic guidance and tools to drive growth. An individual that succeeds in this role will be able to think creatively, embrace innovation, inspire the entire organization, communicate clearly to drive alignment, and guide institutional change when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Develop GoHealth's business intelligence and data strategy by collaborating across the organization to proactively identify quantitatively addressable high-impact business questions and processes, formulate necessary investments to address them, and champion those investments with credible estimates of their returns
- Execute this strategy by maintaining a clear business intelligence and analytics roadmap, attracting and retaining a top-caliber team with the requisite diversity of skills, building out missing infrastructure, and effectively managing implementation and business priorities
- Develop a scalable and effective computational framework for managing identities of the millions of consumers GoHealth and its internal/external systems interact with (including mutations of those identities over time and across multiple interactions), constructing rich event streams around those identities (covering the entire life cycle from lead generation to insurance premium payments), and real-time processing of those event streams to automate marketing and operations targeting revenue growth
- Reexamine analytical framework for complex lead generation operations (using vast amounts of media purchase, web interaction and telephony data) and build prototypes to guide development of more robust applications to optimize the return on GoHealth's large-scale media purchases
- Identify parametric processes across the organization, including those that are stochastic and/or driven by multiple variables, and design/conduct experiments to optimize them
- Identify data governance gaps that present technical or organizational barriers to ready availability of valuable business intelligence and lead cross-functional efforts to close them
- Support the product management team to augment the definitions of all products and features (new or evolving) with thoughtful consideration of data models and the requisite instrumentation of all applications to persist and organize the necessary data to produce valuable intelligence for the business
- Build and manage a team of analysts, data scientists, and other associates, investing heavily in their development to ensure effective achievement of all targets and create a positive, team-oriented culture that inspires employees to take impactful, calculated risks
- Drive a culture of objective experimentation, measurement, accountability and data-driven decision making across the organization as well as the embrace of innovative numerical, statistical and machine learning methods to elevate the effectiveness of many day-to-day decisions and keep GoHealth at the forefront data-driven businesses
- Advise executive and business unit leaders on strategic exploration supported by analytical insights, inspire/support them to articulate their strategic vision in terms of quantified value and business intelligence foundation, and lead organizational change to weave this attitude into the fabric of GoHealth
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (and preferably a Master's degree) from accredited college or university in fields such as mathematics, computer science, machine learning, statistics, engineering, operations research or other advanced analytic programs
- 3+ years of experience building and leading a high-performing team of data scientists/analysts and/or engineering complex, data-driven operational capabilities
- High-functioning knowledge of and first-hand experience with a broad spectrum of numerical, statistical and machine learning methods and tools
- Expertise with complex ETL challenges (including design, data profiling, scalability, performance, and parallel processing) as well as data warehousing and visualization
- Deep insights about working with large-scale and high-complexity data sets, founded on first-hand experience with operationalizing business capabilities based on analyzing such data
- Proven track record of working with senior executives to understand complex problems in strategic and business terms (i.e. competitive differentiation, financial/operational metrics and drivers), re-frame these problems in ways that yield to quantitative analysis, and apply computational methods to develop effective and repeatable solutions
- Thorough enjoyment of forming and working within cross-functional teams and strength in the craft of leading others even with limited authority
- Pride in predictable execution and leading a team that mission-critical business objectives can confidently rely on
- Passion for and appreciation of a fast-paced environment that embraces frequent change and rewards skillful balancing of many simultaneous priorities
