Position Overview:

The Head of Digital has the remit to grow, develop and maximize the performance of the ‘digital’ aspects and elements of Illinois State Lottery and games. This covers online channels for lottery participation, plus any additional product extensions and features devised in order to create a stronger identity, performance and commercial impact, as well as enhanced cost efficiency. The role has the following objectives:

  • To devise and embed (working with the Global Digital Director for Camelot Global) the overall direction and strategy for Digital to achieve top-line growth and bottom-line profitability objectives.
  • As a channel lead, to execute on the strategy through the team and all relevant stakeholders to achieve performance objectives.
  • Shape and deliver all consumer market communications / campaigns in an impactful and revenue-generating manner, deploying all available customer segmentation and predictive analytics.
  • Manage, develop and inspire the Digital team to form a coherent, motivated and winning group, optimizing talent and activities / processes to drive sustainable growth and succession.
  • Manage to maximum effect and impact the marketing / digital budget and relevant agencies and resources.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Digital strategy, direction and planning:
  • Devising a compelling digital framework, strategy and plan, building on established product and market position and credentials.
  • Deploying the full range of available insight and analytics to drive participation in the digital channel.
  • Establishing robust stakeholder relationships across the group to leverage all available capabilities and resources to drive the digital agenda.
  • Communicating the plans to stakeholders and internal and external counterparts to ensure maximum buy-in and effective execution.
  • Monthly and quarterly reporting on progress against plan.

Digital delivery, acquisition and retention:

  • Using compelling content and branding to grow the market impact of Digital, for further customer activation, more proactive customer relationships and effective inbound / outbound digital marketing.
  • Driving retention and customer value management through segmentation and CRM, using latest predictive and web analytics and insight to enhance customer experience and loyalty.
  • Contributing broadly to digital thought leadership, and establishing a culture within the team of constantly challenging established practice and encouraging innovative ideas.

Team leadership, motivation and operations execution:

  • Leading, motivating, and inspiring the Digital team, adding value in respect to all elements of customer interaction.
  • Delivering and executing on the digital strategy and plan with ruthless focus across all communications, processes and initiatives.
  • Driving team cohesion, quality and effectiveness, ensuring targets are clearly understood and that appropriate support and materials are put in place for every team member.
  • Ensuring that over-performance is recognized and that best practice is gathered and shared both within the team and across colleagues.

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant graphic design experience.
  • 5 + years experience in a similar role with digital focus.
  • Experience in web and digital roles essential.
  • Experience in a leadership role directing digital related team(s).

  • You’ll be comfortable being an all-rounder with key areas of deep expertise and a significant breadth of knowledge.
