The Head of Merchandising will take seven diverse lines of business (Goods, Travel, Things To Do, Health & Beauty, Restaurants, Home & Auto and Retail) to market to 50M+ consumers to deliver over $3.9B North America Gross Billings. He/She will optimize messaging across 1.3B weekly email and push consumer touchpoints.

Additionally--

Direct ownership of:

  • Merchandising teams supporting each Local business
  • All merchandising operations
  • Overall NA asset allocation, merchandising campaign development and calendar management

Business Owner / Partner:

  • Marketing Teams - SEM, Display, Affiliate, SEO, Social, Brand/Offline
  • Relevance (deal assignment algorithm) Product & Engineering
  • Merchandising Product & Engineering
  • Mobile + Web Apps Product
  • Creative Services Teams

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop asset allocation strategy, campaign development, and promotional activity to deliver P&L
  • Translate North American business priorities into operational tactics with marketing channels, product teams, GM’s and creative services to achieve financial and strategic goals
  • Ensure high degrees of collaboration between leaders, dotted line and direct.....  Product & Engineering, Marketing, Creative Services and Revenue Management
  • Take unstructured problems and drive analysis. Ability to manipulate complex data and move past simple insights into actionable recommendations      
  • Conduct statistical tests for merchandising optimization
  • Optimize workflow and improve processes to maximize cost saving opportunities across the organization
  • Build a winning culture that encourages innovation which results in significantly enhanced business performance
  • Establish motivating stretch objectives for team members that align with company objectives; encourages coaching and mentoring, focuses on the development needs of employees and ensures collaboration and teamwork; builds amazing teams
  • Effectively balance efficiency improvements and placing bold bets on growth

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE 

  • 10+ years of experience in e-commerce and/or general management and/or strategic consulting
  • Breadth of experience is valuable, e.g. marketing, business strategy, analytics, product, etc. within e-commerce
  • Must have had Merchandising, Online Marketing or P&L experience within e-commerce company with revenues >$100M
  • A demonstrated track record of development and execution of creative, innovative strategies to meet both the right long term outcomes and short term results
  • Demonstrated strength in conceptual strategy and execution
