Job Description

Let’s get to business. Avant is looking for a new Information Security Engineer to join the team in Chicago.

The Information Security Engineer will work at the direction of the Chief Information Security Officer and closely with other team members in the Information Security department. The Information Security Engineer will execute on strategic security projects including MFA, log monitoring and analysis, incident response, vulnerability and patch management, and threat intelligence. This role will also develop and mature related standards and processes, and ensure effective implementation. Other responsibilities for the Information Security Engineer include driving requirements for security monitoring and analytics capabilities and continuously assessing the effectiveness of existing technologies.

Job Duties Include:
-Work with IT to implement and design policies for FW, IDS, IPS, NAC, Encryption, Authentication methods and a wide variety of other security products/appliances.
-Analyze escalated, complex cases involving a pattern of security events
-Create, automate and improve documentation and workflow processes
-Perform and manage vulnerability scans and penetration tests
-Provide system stakeholders with vulnerability notices, remediation and best practices
-Sandboxing and testing of potential malware in controlled environments

Minimum Requirements:
-3+ Years of experience in an IT Security-focused role
-Knowledge of IR concepts and best practices, including forensics and chain-of-custody
-Broad understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and other foundational topics
-Authoritative understanding of malware detection, analysis, and evasion techniques
-Extensive knowledge of the threat landscape and the ability to adapt practices to evolving circumstances
-PCI DSS and similar compliance experience
-Log collection and analysis experience, preferred SumoLogic, Splunk
-Endpoint security concepts and products
-Ability to be productive and maintain focus without direct supervision
-Understands IR in the context of risk management and organizational priorities
-Passionate in the practice and pursuit of IR excellence

Desired Competencies:
-Current exploit and remediation techniques
-Automation experience, scripting language such as Python, Ruby
-Firewall and content filter policy design - Palo Alto preferred
-Coud-based environments such as AWS 
-Digital investigation tool experience such as FTK, Encase etc.
-Corporate educational experience such as infosec bulletins, PhishMe campaigns etc.
