Edovo is looking for a talented Infrastructure Systems Engineer to join the team. This position will be responsible for engineering and deploying the systems that operate and manage our platform - Edovo.
Edovo, a Jail Educations Solutions company, is a digital education company dedicated to changing the way corrections is done today. Our technology platform transforms rehabilitation and inmate service models nationally. Edovo serves incarcerated individuals in correctional facilities across the US with educational content and support services via a securely connected devices. You will be tasked with full engineering and infrastructure development responsibilities as they relate to technical operations. This position reports directly to the VP of Technology. The company is based in Chicago IL.

- We are deployed across the country. This position will have the opportunity for business travel to many major areas to deploy the Edovo platform.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or 4 years equivalent experience in an IT or Networking related field
- Cisco CCENT, Juniper JNCIA, or equivalent required. Cisco CCNA preferred.
- Professional experience with production networks and systems
- Professional experience with Debian / Red Hat based systems
- Technology troubleshooting and triage experience
- An extreme desire to discover, learn and work with new and innovative infrastructure technology hardware, software and services.
- Attentive to operational detail
- Strong ability to stay focused and prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment
- Extensive ability to multitask and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Experience working in a start up environment a plus
- Strong interpersonal communication (both verbal and written)
- Ability to receive and implement feedback immediately
- Strong belief in proactive rather than reactive approach to handling clients and problems
- Excellent personal time management and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to change in a fast-growing environment
Qualified applicants should have experience in production environments with the
following:
- General Networking
- 802.11 Wireless Solutions
- Cisco IOS / IOS XE
- Linux Server Distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat)
- Linux Based Network Services (Bind, ISC DHCP, NTP, etc)
- VMware vCenter and ESXi (5.5, 6.0)
- Layer 2 technologies (VLAN’s, Trunking, STP, etc)
- Experience with routing (OSPF, BGP, Static, and Redistribution)
General job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Monitor and correct outages to LAN, WAN, Firewall, and Network Services.
- Setup, install, and configure systems based on documented installation procedures
- Design new systems and tools for the Edovo platform and the infrastructure that operates it
- Design new network and server architecture for the platform
- Improve existing architecture of the platform
- Build and maintain network and system monitoring tools
- Troubleshoot infrastructure issues
- Work within and participate in the Change Control process.
- Evaluate and implement vendor hardware and software patches to resolve error conditions and/or maintain systems
- Participate on “on-call” support rotation.
- Provide IT infrastructure support services for Company locations.
- Assist in weekly and monthly maintenance activities when required.
- Create and Maintain documentation
- Participate in on site deployments (Up to 25% Business Travel)
- Provide detailed feedback to management in order to better overall business process
- Work closely with the VP of Technology to develop, deploy, document and maintain new solutions
- Attain and maintain needed Technical Certifications as defined by the VP of Technology
