The higi design practice helps people take a more active role in their health and wellbeing by designing solutions that deepen engagement with users and stakeholders, engender trust with audiences, and acculturate design as an organizational competency.

Our design practice works across the entirety of the product solutions portfolio and includes 360-degree research, visual interface design, motion graphic design, and interaction design disciplines. Our practice is looking for unique designers with particular interest and expertise in health behavior, behavior change, and human flourishing.

Position
As an interaction designer, you’ll be responsible for conceptualizing and communicating how design solutions are structured at the systems and information levels. You’ll evolve design concepts by shaping the information architecture and user-application interactions that create useful, usable and meaningful products. We’ll also rely on you to apply your expertise across the entire design process and work to continuously refine our human-centered approach to design.

Responsibilities

·         Work with product management to shape design solutions from concept to creation

·         Design human-centered solutions based on interaction design principles, research evidence, and constructs of persuasive technology, behavior change, and human flourishing

·         Effectively communicate design rationale with design and non-design colleagues

·         Communicate the user experience in meaningful ways for stakeholders and collaborators (e.g. user flows, journey maps, storyboards, scenarios, wireframes and prototypes)

·         Develop and refine interaction guidelines, patterns and supporting HCI standards

·         Develop prototypes and lead design research projects using the appropriate method (e.g. participatory design, ethnographies, usefulness studies and usability)

·         Clearly document, synthesize, communicate, and integrate research findings

·         Collaborate with development to implement design

·         Contribute to the evolution of higi’s human-centered design discipline

Qualifications

Education
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. Advanced education in design, HCI or cognitive behavior is a plus.

Experience

·         5 – 7 years of rich experience in interaction design or information architecture roles designing for a range of device types/screen sizes and contexts

·         Experience applying principles of persuasive technology and behavior change to design solutions

·         Experience deploying a variety of design research methods

·         Experience in healthcare is not required, but is a plus

Design and Portfolio

·         You can articulate the value and process of human-centered design

·         An understanding of design and technology trends and a strategic perspective on how they apply to innovation and product development

·         A range of design artifacts demonstrating your original work interaction design including wireframes, prototypes and interaction models. To be considered, your application must include a pdf attachment or link to your portfolio

Technical

·         Mastery of Axure and/or other IA/prototyping tool. Sketch and Adobe Creative Suite are a plus

·         Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Front-end development experience a plus

·         Understanding of native, adaptive and responsive design

·         Experience working in an agile environment is a plus
