Interactive Communication Designer
Who we are:
The Interactive Communication (IC) Designer role will support our team’s ability to create tools that teach, support, and remind people about ways to take action on their health. Clients (mainly hospitals and insurance companies) come to our team for clear communication on a platform that offers personalized, interactive experiences.
IC Designers collaborate with developers, clients, quality assurance teams, and others depending on project needs. Though our core capacity is interactive voice response (IVR) technology, we’re constantly bringing in other modalities (text messages, multimedia) to enhance the patient experience.
Who you are:
Strong IC Designers emerge from many different backgrounds. Some come fromexperience design, writing/journalism, or voice-user interface (VUI) design – others from things like anthropology, applied psychology, teaching, or even playwriting.The background you have is less important than having the following skills/attributes:
- You are a left-brain and right-brain thinker, able to problem-solve creatively and follow through on your designs with attention to detail.
- You like a mix of independent and collaborative work, and can work on several projects at once.
- You are a natural at understanding how people think, feel, and communicate in different contexts.
- You’re a top-notch writer with a gift for plain language, in your element writing about health.
- You enjoy and are skilled at thinking through logic problems and branching flow charts.
- You’re a quick learner who’s excited to work with technology.
- You have no problem giving and getting edits and feedback.
- You feel comfortable presenting your ideas to clients and thinking on your feet.
- You have a constant circuit running in the back of your brain that thinks, “How can I make stuff better?”
Job responsibilities:
- Map out call flows for IVR applications geared toward various populations and needs.
- Write clear, engaging, conversational scripts that reflect the brand voice.
- Apply experience to other interactive products, like text messaging or multimedia campaigns.
- Consult with and guide healthcare clients to convert their goals into a user-friendly strategy.
- Direct voice talent to obtain high-quality recordings appropriate for the product.
- Assist developers and testers in the implementation of these designs.
- Analyze results and participate in conversations around improving producteffectiveness.
- Participate in discussions around new products and their interactivecomponents.
- Stay current with industry best practices; maintain internal design guidelines.
- Explore and leverage other technology that may augment our communication goals.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years relevant experience in a field related to writing, communications, psychology, computer science, or design.
- You can work full-time, on-site in Chicago
