International Tax Manager
Groupon is seeking an International Tax Manager to join our dynamic tax function and be an integral part of the team. This role presents an opportunity to take on challenging projects that impact Groupon's worldwide effective tax rate and operations.
In this role, you will be involved in complex cross border tax planning and transfer pricing initiatives, both IRS and non-U.S. tax controversy management, and tackling complex business problems in a friendly, relaxed environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support Groupon’s business initiatives with effective and efficient strategic tax planning
- Support the business by analyzing tax impacts associated with M&A transactions
- Assist with transfer pricing (TP) matters, including coordination of TP studies and documentation, analysis and implementation of intercompany fee arrangements, and strategic TP planning and support
- Coordinate with global tax reporting team on tax transactions and latest international tax developments (e.g., BEPS, CbC)
- Assist with IRS and non-U.S. tax controversy matters
- Assist with global tax compliance
- Work with team members within the tax group as well as with business partners in finance and other departments
Required Qualifications:
- Must have at least 5 years of progressive experience with international tax and/or transfer pricing matters for publicly traded multinational companies with significant foreign operations or equivalent experience at public accounting firms
- Comprehensive understanding of U.S. international tax rules (Subpart F, 956, foreign tax credits, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of U.S. and foreign transfer pricing rules and documentation / compliance requirements
- Strong research and analytical skills
- A self-starter who is execution focused
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field
Desired Qualifications:
- CPA, Masters in Tax and/or JD/LLM in tax
- Experience with transfer pricing (TP) analysis, including TP studies and documentation and associated economic and financial analyses
- Experience with U.S. international tax compliance (e.g., Forms 5471, 1118, etc.)
- Experience with ASC 740 and financial reporting / tax provision analysis and documentation
