Guaranteed Rate is working to reinvent the mortgage experience through innovation, technology and a relentless focus on providing industry-leading mortgage products and superlative customer service.  The Legal Affairs Analyst will embrace these efforts by supporting the Guaranteed Rate legal team on litigation, contract, employment and regulatory matters and other special projects and by helping to keep the day-to-day operations of the legal department running smoothly.  The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, solve problems creatively, prioritize relentlessly, exercise business judgment soundly, and operate with a sense of urgency to get things done. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Litigation-related tasks, including drafting correspondence and other documents, preparing and managing case files, responding to discovery requests and subpoenas, locating and analyzing documents and information related to existing or threatened claims, assistance with internal reporting regarding pending litigation matters, independently handling and resolving small matters.
• Contracts-related tasks, including facilitating the contract approval process, tracking contract renewals and expirations, and assisting with contract negotiations.
• Employment-related tasks, including investigating claims and drafting and managing compensation plans.
• Compliance-related tasks, including compliance monitoring and testing and vendor auditing. 
• Legal department operations, including managing contract forms, implementing technology solutions, facilitating training programs, organizing team meetings, leading department initiatives, measuring and reporting department metrics, tracking outside counsel invoices and fees, and other special projects.
• Assist the legal department with administrative and overflow work as necessary.

 

Experience/Qualifications/Skills:

• Strong project management skills and ability to complete projects under tight timelines.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
• Self-motivated with strong work ethic.
• Clear, concise and persuasive oral and written communication skills.

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Resilient with a sense of humor.
• Prior financial services experience, especially mortgage experience, a plus.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Skilled at Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point.
• Bachelor’s degree.
