Job Description

The Messaging Engineer will lead the design, architecture, implementation, security, and support of the GoHealth Exchange messaging server environments.  The Messaging Engineer will act as the lead for enhancements and future product offerings.  They will prepare scope documents, project plans, and design and implement best practices for system performance, interoperability, and scalability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide recommendations on scaling architecture, improving fault tolerance/redundancy and lead/ implement associated products
  • Support of messaging environment including Microsoft Exchange 2013 support and configuration
  • Implement and support security policies, such as data retention
  • Email Domain Management (MX, SPF, PTR, A record knowledge)
  • Manage problem resolution by keeping abreast of assigned tickets and following the proper escalation process via ticketing queues
  • Documentation of all systems and training processes
  • Architecting and implementation of all messaging and collaboration solutions
  • Work with a team to provide capacity planning and make recommendations on new equipment and services
  • Actively monitor the issue tracking system and address/resolve outstanding issues
Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge in Exchange 2013 server technologies preferred; would accept 2007 or 2010 
  • Five to seven years of messaging experience in a medium to large system environment
  • Knowledge of Exchange client software and configuration
  • Familiarity with Exchange centered hardware deployment and data communications networks
  • Knowledge of current Exchange operational strategies; including data recovery, performance tuning, and transaction log replay, replication, and mail flow
  • Proven ability to interpret and write PowerShell scripts
  • Knowledge of PowerShell commands and how to perform non-GUI tasks in Exchange
  • Strong understanding of SMTP constructs and protocols
  • Proven track record in formulating technical assessments, written documentation and technical leadership
  • Experience with SQL Server and querying of data (A+)
  • Experience creating performance monitors in Nagios to work with Windows/Exchange (A+)
  • Experience with VMWare (A+)

General Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience
  • Knowledge of email protocols (SMTP, IMAP, and POP), and Active Directory and DNS
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse audiences and cross-functionally
  • Multi-tasking skills are required in order to be strategic, creative and innovative in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently or within a group setting
  • Desire to grow within the messaging field
