Civis is on the cutting edge of the information age, and we tackle novel legal, ethical, and compliance issues at the intersection of technology and data science. We are seeking a smart, energetic, and highly-motivated corporate paralegal to join our legal team. This position reports to our Legal Counsel and is located in our Chicago headquarters. You will be a driving force in scaling our legal department to support the company’s high rate of growth, and you'll be trusted with a wide range of responsibilities related to our legal, commercial, and compliance initiatives.
Responsibilities- Create and improve processes for legal operations to help things get done better and faster. For example, these may relate to commercial contracting, facilitating cross-departmental communications, development of legal resources, or the storage, retrieval, and sharing of corporate and commercial documents
- Collaborate with legal, engineering, and business teams in designing and managing compliance programs -- e.g. in security, privacy, corporate
- Conduct legal research and draft and edit contracts, NDAs, amendments, statements of work, and other documents that underpin the exciting work we do
- Create aggregate summaries of relevant contracts and business terms
- Assist in responding to other legal requests
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the company’s intellectual property portfolio
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
- At least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a technology company
