What You'll Do:

As a People (HR) Business Partner, you will at the heart of upholding Uptake’s culture and a valued member of our People team. This role will partner closely with the internal client’s management team to help educate, advise and influence client groups on issues involving, but not limited to, compensation planning, employee engagement and retention, reporting, manager coaching, organizational development/design and change management. This role will also work closely with client groups and across our People teams to identify, design and implement people programs, processes and initiatives that support the business needs of the organization. You would be an employee advocate, managment coach, People team member and an ambassador of Uptake’s unique culture.  You would report directly to our SVP of People.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction and guidance in support of Uptake’s values and standards
  • Assisting People team with the creation, design, development and implementation of People programs and services
  • Ensuring compliance with federal and state legislation including understanding, articulating and interpreting firm policies and procedures
  • Resolving complex employee relations issues and addressing grievances by coaching and collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Identifying training needs for teams and individuals
  • Acts as a single point of the contact for the employees and managers in the business unit
  • Proactively supports the delivery of HR Processes at the client’s side
  • Manages complex and difficult HR Projects cross-functionally
  • Builds a strong business relationship with the internal client
  • Actively identifies gaps, proposes and implement changes necessary to cover risks
  • Facilitates the management team to bring best solutions for employees
  • Acts as the performance improvement driver and provokes positive changes in the people management
  • Challenges the organizational structure of the internal client and proposes changes
  • Partner with management on high impact initiatives: examples include talent assessment, high-potential development, succession planning, manager development, and employee engagement and retention
  • Ongoing analysis of the client group. Monitor and interpret trends and metrics around employee satisfaction, attrition and turnover, etc.
  • Operate with a client-centric mindset in providing excellent service, counsel and hands-on collaboration with your client group
  • Demonstrated track record of developing effective relationships across all levels of the organization and with diverse client groups
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills; must be an articulate and persuasive communicator
  • Ability to prepare senior level presentations, and collect, assimilate and analyze data. Must have strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to conduct group facilitation, coach and counsel managers at all levels
  • Knowledge of inclusion, compensation, and talent management best practices
  • Ensuring compliance with federal and state legislation including understanding, articulating and interpreting firm policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7-10 years experience in a technology company or professional services organization
  • Understands best practices as it relates to benefits, progressive discipline, HR policy and procedure, immigration and employment law
  • Understands best practices when it comes to coaching both individual contributors and management staff
  • Experience in all facets of HR including benefits, employee relations, immigration, coaching, compensation, performance management, and training
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly self-motivated and passionate about Human Resources and Talent in the workplace
  • Flexibility to operate in a constantly evolving and fast paced environment
  • Embody the values of an Uptake employee
  • Experience in a start up environment is preferred
  • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality
  • Ability to pivot & shift quickly by being able to move from tactical tasks one moment to the next moment of being part of deeply complex people strategy discussions
  • Exposure to recruiting
  • Experience implementing or administering training
  • Experience supporting employees in multiple countries
  • Ability to influence others/garner buy-in without direct authority
  • Experience with organizational design and change management
  • Experience with leadership coaching
  • Must be an independent, self-starter who takes initiative and can work autonomously as well as within a team
  • Manage competing priorities with various stakeholders
  • Stay cool under pressure
  • PHR or other related certification

Location

We are located in River North just right off the Chicago Brown Line stop. We also provide you with a free shuttle service to/from Ogilvie and Union.
