The Principal UI Engineer will report to one of our Engineering Managers, and work closely with business and engineering stakeholders to define and execute requirements.

Our primary application stack includes Ruby, Rails, Haml, SASS, PostgreSQL, and Debian, but we’re enjoying using some JavaScript frameworks and other newer platforms depending on the project. We work to stay on the cutting edge of technology and contribute back to open source projects, because flexible frameworks build the foundation for our businesses. It feels good to give back.


On average, we release two new products per year, with eight code releases per day, and we’re getting faster all the time. We’re dedicated to creating quality software quickly, and we're creating a solid, stable, and flexible service-oriented infrastructure to get there.

This is where YOU come in:

As a Principal UI Engineer, you will be the torch bearer of our UI culture. You will be responsible for setting a vision, guiding direction and upholding high standards within our culture. You will collaborate closely with a group of talented UI Engineers, UX Designers, Visual Designers, Marketing Associates and other key business stakeholders to establish and maintain frontend development standards across the company.

 

   You’re right for this job if you:

·         Can evaluate the latest UI technologies and champion what you believe is best

·         Find unorganized directory structures just a little maddening

·         Enjoy mentoring talented front-end professionals

·         Can rally change within a larger team of engineers

·         understand that frameworks are tools and not solutions

·         know the importance of design thinking

·         place UX at the forefront of all initiatives, even if it means less UI

·         can effectively communicate with other engineering disciplines

·         can influence architectural direction on projects you’re not directly managing

·         believe that outcomes lead to implementations and not the reverse

 

 We’re even more impressed if you:

·         like to actively speak at conferences

·         have a passionate following on social media

·         enjoy surrounding yourself with a community of people you respect, but sometimes disagree with

·         actively blog about your development projects and what drives you

·         frequently dig into the code behind sites you didn’t build to learn

·         have built software using Ruby, Rails, Linux, Angular, Ember, or PostgreSQL

·         contribute regularly to popular open-source projects (send us Github links!)
