Using a seamless browser-based eReader solution, RedShelf provides easily accessible and affordable course materials to students everywhere, accelerating the learning community's transition to digital.

RedShelf has grown over 400% YOY for the last 4 years and has an opening for a Publisher Relations Account Manager based in our Chicago office headquarters. The successful candidate will be an integral member of our publisher-facing team, supporting the management of key business partnerships, cross-functional projects, and innovative course materials programs across higher education.

As an Account Manager, you will contribute to the rapid acceleration of RedShelf’s market expansion by executing eBook and eTextbook repository management, national marketing campaigns, and digital initiatives spanning publishing and education. You will be responsible for generating, managing, and optimizing business relationships with our publisher partners, which means you are a proactive self-starter and skilled communicator. Exceptional organization, ability to multi-task, creative problem solving, and sharp attention to detail are a must.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Optimize business relationships with publishers and other content creators with the goal of providing a focused and personalized experience based on the needs and goals of our partners, while maximizing sales of RedShelf eBooks and exceeding growth targets.
  • Work directly with publishers and institutions of higher education to implement digital course materials programs and strategies.
  • Demonstrate an active, professional presence while promoting the benefits of RedShelf’s products and services.
  • Facilitate publisher understanding of, engagement with, and reliance on RedShelf’s products and services through creative relationship building and consistent collaboration on RedShelf capabilities and opportunities.
  • Optimize publishers’ reach into the market place, utilizing data and services designed to help content creators compete more strategically.
  • Collaborate with publishers to develop and establish new market efficiencies and digital business models.
  • Maintain product expertise across our platform and serve as the ultimate expert for publishers on RedShelf products and services.
  • Actively prepare and participate in internal meetings, including weekly 1:1 meetings with your manager, weekly group strategy sessions, and seasonal industry conferences.
  • Generate new publisher accounts and grow existing accounts with the goal of expanding partnerships and widening RedShelf’s digital distribution of college course materials.
  • Effectively gather market feedback and industry intelligence, and report your experiences, challenges, and progress to the organization.
  • Responsibly manage operational expenses.

Required Experience / Qualifications:

  • College degree.
  • Attention to detail and ability to appreciate big picture.
  • Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A​bility to prioritize and manage a large number of accounts ​and issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to succeed independently and as part of a team.
  • Hands-on problem solver.
  • Motivated and coachable.
  • Available some weekends for tradeshows and company events.

Other Desirable Skills / Experience:

  • Experience in academic publishing, higher education, and/or technology with proven success in generating new business, driving account revenue, and building client relationships.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of the advances in higher educational software, course materials, and digital publishing.
  • Comfort and/or experience in a start-up environment.
