Job Description for the Accounting Manager role:

  • Financial reporting and analysis for divisions using Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains)
  • Assist with compilation of financial statements
  • Assist Director of Finance in daily accounting activities and month-end closing procedures
  • Create and post journal entries within Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains)
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations for all Balance Sheet accounts
  • Calculate month-end accruals for revenue and expenses using Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains)
  • Assist Director of Finance with cash management and cash receipt reconciliation 
  • Maintain supporting documentation for contracts and other agreements, including leases, insurance and notes payable
  • Complete and file monthly sales tax returns
  • Provide accounts payable/accounts receivable support through vendor payment set-up, vendor payment reconciliation, and invoice discrepancy resolution 
  • Correspond with vendors and internal staff and respond to inquiries
  • Assist with yearly audit of financial statements
  • Assist with special projects as needed

People Management expectations for the Accounting Manager role:

  • Manage employee performance by providing goal setting, feedback, rewards, and performance development
  • Maintain transparent communication through planning and executing one on one meetings, email, and regular interpersonal communication
  • Proactively manage people/projects/situations to forecast and manage issues
  • Determine procedural needs and make recommendations to improve efficiencies and expedite maximum workflow

Qualifications & Skills for the Accounting Manager role:

  • Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) experience is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft products, especially Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with ADP WFN
  • Understanding of general accounting practices and rules
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong organizational skills/ability to multi-task to achieve deadlines
  • Customer service focus including both delivering on requests and anticipating them
  • Bright and flexible team player capable of working in a fast-paced environment at a rapidly growing company

Education & Experience for the Accounting Manager role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required
  • CPA designation a plus
  • Previous management experience or experience as a customer service supervisor is a plus
  • Ability to coach and motivate others
  • Ability to supervise workflow with focus on quality results
  • 3-5 years of experience in general ledger accounting; public accounting experience a plus
  • Strong analytical/quantitative skills
