Guaranteed Rate has grown very quickly in the past 15 years from a start-up mortgage shop to the #8 home loan originator in the US. So much of that growth has been on the Operational and Sales sides that the company outpaced its own Business Intelligence needs! We need a high-energy Senior Data Warehouse Architect to wrangle existing data infrastructure and drive us into the next phase of growth. In your career, you will have administered (or built from the ground up) multiple Enterprise-Level BI platforms. You should have a sense of which platform is the solution for which business need and be familiar with the pricing shortlist. You know when and why an SSRS report is better or worse than modifying the OLAP cube is better than a jQuery snippet on a user's landing page. You are a quintessential data guru. Your work with Guaranteed Rate will be two-fold:

1. Identify and improve existing data models and BI endpoints. Maintain or migrate the existing stack while improving performance and reliability 
2. Take us to the next level of Business Intelligence! 
   1. Help the business measure its performance to reach aggressive operational benchmarks (10-days-to-close!) and 
   2. Build solutions that identify and uncover significant sources of new revenue, repeat business, and cost inefficiencies. 

In short: you are hungry to grow a base of power-users but you don't shy away from daunting integration & legacy/tech-debt tasks.

A few other things:

• Business Analyst role: lead and assist in research & requirements gathering to formulate and plan delivery planning & data model requirements.

  • Participating in the full lifecycle of DW / BI implementations, taking on roles beyond that of a developer when necessary. 
  • Candidate must be comfortable being involved in business analysis and testing tasks in addition to architecture and development.

• Build, optimize, and stress-test ETL packages and SQL Agent Jobs

• Build, optimize, and stress-test Operational Data Stores and the Enterprise Data Warehouse.

  • Leading and supervising EDW and reporting build, test, and deployment

  • Leading, directing, and mentoring other staff involved in building and supporting DW and BI initiatives.

• Flexible work environment but occasional odd hours in the event of infrastructure changes, downtime, or upgrades

What you'll bring to the table:

• Minimum 5 years experience with MS SQL Server 
  • Also SSRS, SSIS, & SSAS 
  • Working knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery options
  • Bonus points for professional experience with PostgreSQL. 
• Professional experience with and strong opinions on different deployment options & version control methodology for the whole MS SQL stack
• Expert-level competency in writing T-SQL for both designing and debugging
• Experience with performance-tuning Data Warehouse systems.
• Experience with multiple Business Intelligence reporting and analytics products

  • Do you have experience with Power BI, Amazon Redshift, Qlik View, Qlik Sense, or Spotfire? Tell us how you'll make them work for us!
• Experience deploying DW and BI solutions in on-premise and cloud-based infrastructures
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies (we're on Scrum!)
• Familiarity with EDW methodologies and best practices. Kimball / Inmon / Data Vault 
• Strong research skills. Demonstrated problem-solving and quantitative skills, combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Bonus if you have mortgage industry and/or other lending or financial business experience. 
  • Double bonus if you've built prior Data Warehouse(s) for a lender or FinTech company.
