Aeris is looking for a Database Engineer & Administrator with strong Database and Engineering background. The candidate will be responsible for designing, building, managing and supporting highly available enterprise production databases, implementing pre-prod and Dev/Test environments, and implementing security enhancements. 
The ideal candidate will be responsible for preserving the integrity and design of mission-critical databases necessary for business operations. This position will also have an opportunity to learn about next-generation cutting edge technologies, including the opportunity to work on big data.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure data integrity and reliability by engineering databases such that content is optimized, reliable and rapidly available.
  • Diagnose and correct data integrity issues by authoring SQL scripts, triggers, and stored procedures.
  • Drive the design and implementation of new versions of Oracle and NoSQL databases and tools including; Oracle 9i, 11g RAC, Cassandra, Mongo and other NoSQL platforms as required. Keep current with related technologies, releases, and dot releases.
  • Train and mentor junior database administrators.
  • Develop and maintain data modeling diagrams for Aeris enterprise database stack.
  • Automate DBA and system operations, DB performance analysis, and application level performance monitoring/alerting of large size databases up to 5TB.
  • Collaborate with business to define business requirements for complex systems and infrastructure development.
  • Ensure that all periodic data management tasks are completed, including automation, monitoring, and coordination with offshore engineers.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for review and execution of database updates by engineering peers.
  • Recommend, develop and execute modifications to database infrastructure and system performance in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
  • Engage offshore resources via conference calls and daily tasks hand-offs.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies and standards to meet compliance, availability and disaster recovery, act as an escalation point for project team members to provide issue resolution.

 

Qualifications:
  • BS in CS/EE with minimum 3 years of experience as hands-on Oracle, Cassandra or Hadoop.
  • Solid experience in MongoDB, Oracle, Cassandra, MySQL and Hadoop desired (but all not required).
  • Strong experience using Oracle 9i, 11g RAC.
  • Strong experience with Unix/Linux, in scripting languages such as Shell/Perl/Python/Expect and SQL
  • Experience with Java
  • Proven analytical, evaluative, prioritization and problem-solving abilities, at times ability to execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Understanding of AWS environment
