Grainger Tech. is looking for a Senior Design Lead.  Located downtown Chicago, Grainger Tech is a wholly owned subsidiary of Grainger.  We are an established start-up.   

You will have an opportunity to impact entire end to end experience for both customers and internal users.

Position Description 

Primary Function:

The Senior Design Lead will work closely with all teams to create and evolve the visual and interactive language of our applications, our printed materials and our marketing materials to ensure a consistent end to end user experience. We are seeking someone who takes a holistic approach to design and excels at collaborating.

 The Senior Design Lead will:

  • Work closely with UX, product owners, engineers and the branding team to develop the visual design of both a B2B ecommerce site as well as the admin workstation.
  • Work closely with marketing and the branding team to develop digital and printed marketing materials and emails.
  • Work closely with catalog team to develop printed catalogs.
  • Enforce a consistent visual experience across all touch points and be the style guide steward.
  • Work with content strategy.
  • Create pixel perfect design comps for implementation and discussion.
  • Identify and remediate visual design inconsistencies across all our digital and printed products.
  • Present and communicate designs, ideas, strategies, and best practices.
  • Contribute to the QA effort for every release.

Preferred Experience: 

  • 7-10 years of experience in related field preferred.
  • Strong visual and linguistic communication skills.
  • Exquisite attention to detail.
  • A portfolio of compelling visual design work.
  • Experience designing for print.
  • Experience designing websites.
  • Experience in information design.
  • Experience designing for responsive web.
  • Fluency in visually communicating solutions through storyboards, visual design comps and presentation decks.
  • Ability to clarify the importance and impact of design decisions in order to lead stakeholders to a clean, simple and compelling outcome.
  • Ability to work in deadline-driven environment and handle multiple conflicting priorities at the same time.
  • Ideally you have expertise with using tools such as Sketch, Creative Suite or similar design applications.

 Nice to have:

  • Experience in B2B eCommerce is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of WCAG standards is a plus.
  • Experience designing emails.
