 SpotHero is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our growing development team. We are looking for an engineer that is passionate and skilled in both sysops and devops to come in and help us operationalize the technology team. This candidate will not only be responsible for improving our existing infrastructure, tools and processes but will also have a major voice in future system and architectural decisions.

What might you find yourself doing here?

As the team's only devops engineer you will find yourself wearing many hats. This role will also be responsible for not only improving our existing infrastructure and deployment processes but will also be responsible for helping design and implement greenfield projects as we move towards microservices.


Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and Manage our cloud based production infrastructure (rackspace)
  • Automate server creation across multiple cloud based providers
  • Architect and implement deployment infrastructure (configuration, orchestration and automation tools)
  • Build out deployment framework 
  • Build out initial automation scripts and tools for multiple web based applications
  • Manage CI tools and process.
  • Work with QA Engineer to build out testing environment
  • Manage our monitoring, alerting tools
  • Define new tools, process or services that would help development team be more productive.
  • Work with development team to help remove any system or deployment roadblocks.

 

The following experience is relevant to us:

  • Experience with automation tools (Ansible)
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructures (AWS, RackSpace, DigitalOcean)
  • Extensive experience with Linux/Unix. 
  • Experience with continuous integration, deployment and testing tools such as Jenkins, Travis, selenium grid, 
  • Experience supporting web applications preferably using python, nginx, uwsgi 
  • Knowledge of scripting language (bash, python) 
  • Experience setting up and maintaining RDBMS (postgres) 
  • Prefer experience in setting up and maintaining NoSql data stores (redshift, mongo)
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools/services (graphite, Graphana, new relic)
  • Experience with zero downtown deployments.
