Senior DevOps Systems Engineer
Positon Summary: The successful candidate work with a highly skilled team backed buy world class support from all of our Vendors! Learn new skills, prototype, and come with us on a journey to autoscale Windows Server 2012 in a private cloud using high performing gear (Solid State SANs, 10 GBps switches, 1 to 1 physical to virtual CPU ratio).
Fundamental Components:
· Prototype the rapid deployment of Windows/Linux cloud architecture (PowerShell Desired State Configuration, Puppet, PowerCLI, IIS Web Farms, Microsoft SQL 2014, VMWare ESX 6.5, F5 Big IP, Windows Server 2016, Redhat 7).
· Monitor and Tweak VMWare ESX 6.5 in a rapidly growing extreme performance cluster (48 Core Servers, All Flash Disk Arrays, 10Gig Switching, NUMA node alignment and debugging).
· Debug application performance issues using best-in-class Application Performance Management tools (AppDynamics, Idera, Netflow).
· Get trained on and implement a new Puppet infrastructure, Redhat 7.x, Windows Server 2016, VMware NSX.
· Automate the execution of application deployments across all environments with other Systems Engineers (msbuild, Jenkins).
· Collaborate with developers, quality assurance, database administrators, and product management to streamline the application deployment process.
· Assist in implementing best practices for change control, problem, incident, and release management (ITIL).
· Participate in a 24/7 on call rotation with other team members for urgent incident response (PagerDuty).
· Migrate and harden existing server 2012 infrastructure to server 2016 (File shares, FTP servers, Active Directory).
· Establish and document best practice run books for our environments.
Background/Experience:
· 5+ years of experience deploying/maintaining Windows/Linux environments.
· 2+ years of authoring custom PowerShell cmdlets and modules, PowerShell best practices, and PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC).
· 2+ years using VMware ESX.
· 1 or more years experience using Puppet/Chef or equivalent.
· Solid understanding of TCP/IP and DNS.
Education:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
