You are a front-end developer with a passion for creating beautiful interfaces. You have a relentless focus on designing front-end applications, establishing development processes that streamline tasks, and following the latest tech trends as much as cross-browser/platform solutions. You are an expert in HTML and CSS and proficient with many 3rd party frameworks. You’re able to turn any set of wireframes or visual design into an optimized mobile experience. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, intuitive, and possesses a keen understanding of technology as it affects user experiences.

We are the experience design team within the Mobile Solutions Group (MSG). MSG is part of the Professional Services offering at Vibes. We are a group of passionate engineers and designers in love with technology working for a software company in the fast-paced mobile arena. This is a full-time position located in downtown Chicago at 300 West Adams and will report directly to the Director of Mobile Experiences.

Overview:

This role would be leading the effort in developing, governing, and evolving the Front-End Design discipline best practices. This candidate has extensive experience in JavaScript web application design and development along with leveraging client-side web application frameworks for the delivery of production ready interfaces. This role would also be responsible for the creation of coding standards and processes for our creative and experience teams to follow. They will have a strong understanding of the intricacies of our program lifecycles and can pragmatically evaluate and adopt emerging technologies appropriate for our programs at scale. From an operational stand-point, they will provide insights and plans on project discovery, scoping, estimation, and ongoing execution.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee team and lead all front-end development on MSG projects to ensure build out of user experiences meet best-in-class UI and UX standards
• Work with our extensive full-stack team to ensure front-end experiences are integrated with other technologies such as web services, API's, and CMS systems
• Direct, plan and develop reusable front-end component frameworks to be used in repeatable but customizable projects and programs on MSG Team
• Work collaboratively with team leads to plan and build new programs through the development of prototypes to provide a rich user experience that can both convert consumers and build brand affinity for Vibes Customers
• Utilize 3rd party frameworks and libraries to support development work flow and see through that use of 3rd party tools retain integrity of user experience through QA in oversight and documentation
• Support leads and Project Managers on estimates of time and effort to accomplish projects and tasks
• Liaison with Information Architects and Designers to finalize the usability and feasibility of interface designs.
• Present and speak to technical aspects of development and how it relates to the user experience.
• Demonstrate thought leadership, and creative strategy as it pertains to mobile - working closely with MSG and CS leads to bring opportunities that grow our customer's business as well as Vibes.

Relevant experience:

• Hands-on experience working with Object Oriented JavaScript (OOJS), JavaScript libraries and their practical uses in building complex interactive experiences
• Extensive experience working with 3rd party APIs using AJAX / JSONp as well as JavaScript tools like Grunt and Gulp
• Extensive experience with source control, such as Git and SVN
• Familiarity with MV* frameworks (AngularJS, Backbone.js, or similar) and knowledge of common JavaScript design patterns
• Strong understanding device/cross-browser/platform issues and code solutions
• Experience working with client-side templating languages like Handlebars, Mustache,
• Extensive experience working with design teams to build proofs-of-concept
• Mastery of using fluid grids to build responsive/adaptive websites using Bootstrap
• Strong communication skills - working closely with your team and the PMs to ensure assigned work is on track or needs to be re-prioritized. Ensures that the teams know as much as possible when they are on Time Off or Working from Home days ahead
• Capable of speaking to the front-end technologies and how they are used in the build of solutions designs and conceptual ideas to CS team and Customers.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree along with 4-5 years of experience in front-end website and app development
• Strong knowledge of user interface design processes and methodology – particularly in mobile design across iOS and Android platforms

• Mastery of executing HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript
• 3+ years of Web and Mobile standards, technologies, and terminology

• Demonstrated experience solving usability issues in a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Good leadership and interpersonal skills
• Able to switch between different projects in a fast-paced environment
• A passion for building mobile experiences in the simplest, most elegant way.
• Ability to understand and work with new technologies and keep on top of product changes and their impact
• Curiosity and an eagerness to learn in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
