Trustwave seeks a public relations professional to develop and manage a world-class media relations program that supports the company’s business and aligns to strategic company initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver strategic programs that maximize influencer and customer awareness, consideration and recommendation of Trustwave globally. This role is for someone who has a passion for world-class media relations who can strategize and think big while executing and driving daily results
This position reports to the Vice-President of Corporate Marketing & Communications

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developing and managing a media relations plan/program that supports business priorities and aligns to strategic company initiatives and campaigns
  • Increasing awareness, consideration and recommendation of Trustwave strategy, products and services through media relations strategies and tactics
  • Maintaining constant, deep knowledge of the media and blogger landscape – particularly in the U.S. and Canada – with an ability to assess their influence, tier and priority, while adjusting media relations plans to optimize efforts
  • Managing the news release and pitch writing process to develop relevant and newsworthy content, particularly around Trustwave managed security services, products and initiatives
  • Managing North American and international PR agency and contractors to drive positive, efficient results
  • Monitoring and communicating company, industry and competitive news and media coverage
  • Partnering with focus region/country PR agencies: helping them to liaise with appropriate spokespeople, to localize corporate content, to create content that can be used in multiple countries
  • Writing for company’s online newsroom blog
  • Helping manage Trustwave participation and conversations in social media
  • Collaborating closely with corporate marketing and product marketing, product management, professional services and delivery teams to drive integrated strategies and tactics
  • Developing a strong bench of third-party spokespeople and experts to support successful public relations campaigns
  • Ongoing communication and measurement of programs
  • Managing a media relations budget
  • The applicant must be available and willing to travel (mostly domestic with some international)

Skills & Experience

  • Substantial professional experience in an equivalent role is required
  • Experience in the technology industry (security market experience a plus) with proven media contacts; experience with local Chicago media a plus
  • Social media experience
  • Solid analytical skills, sound judgment and good instincts; excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational, follow up, prioritization, communications and leadership skills
  • Ability to collaborate across and within organizations
  • Sense of urgency

 

Education:

We prefer college-educated applicants, but at minimum, high school diploma or equivalent is required for employment
