What is the job?

As a Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer you will be responsible for defining, developing, and implementing QA best practices, test plans, and additional assessments of the platform. As we’re committed to providing the best-in-class eReader, you will also be responsible for:

  • Writing an abundance of automated tests and clear acceptance criteria for development stories
  • Developing test sequences
  • Managing issues when upgrading current versions of software
  • Developing and executing pre-release test plans
  • Managing defect documentation and tracking, resolution support, and bugfix verification
  • Training development team members of testing best practices
  • Working with the development team to promote quality software standards
  • Working cross-departmentally with the Customer Service Support and Product Teams to triage and troubleshoot issues and bugs

What are we looking for?

First and foremost, we are looking for someone who is passionate about technology and making an impact in the higher education market. Candidates should have at least 7 years of experience working in a quality assurance role in an Agile/Scrum environment and at least 7 years of experience in development due to the heavy automation and scripting aspects of this role. Additional requirements include:

  • Experience designing and maintaining automated tests for whitebox and blackbox testing, executing REST API tests, Git (or other distributed control and source code management systems)
  • Ability to identify relationships between bugs and the underlying code while anticipating potential problems and roadblocks
  • Knowledgeable of best practices for the software development life cycle
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of balancing multiple priorities and deadlines while being adaptable to the changing needs of the business
  • Strong knowledge and significant experience using Selenium

What’s the tech stack?

Ideally, you should have experience with these technologies or some equivalent. However, we are willing to train the right candidate if you are passionate about the position and our goals.

  • Python, JavaScript (Ember, React, and/or Angular)
  • Django, Celery, RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch, Redis, PostgreSQL
  • Ember, Mithril
  • AWS, Docker, Jenkins, Salt
  • Nose, QUnit, PhantomJS, pytest
