Senior Quality Engineer
Job Description:
As a senior quality engineer, you'll be a quality implementer at Vivid Seats and work on an agile team of engineers, designers, and product owners to build a top tier ticket marketplace that brings fans to their favorite events. Our quality engineers work closely with their teams using BDD to prevent defects before they are found. You’ll own testing suites, explore edge cases, and champion quality for the organization. Responsibilities:
- Develop solid understanding of Vivid Seats’ products, how our customers use them, and apply the knowledge to better understand feature requirements
- Actively and meaningfully contribute in all scrum events and guide the team on overall testing strategy
- Collaborate with engineers and product owners, develop effective test plans, test cases and steps from user stories and acceptance criteria
- Proactively identify software risks at different levels of concerns and prevent them using mitigation techniques
- Execute different types of tests (including exploratory tests), record defects and assist in driving resolution
- Perform root cause analysis, identify trends and weak points and suggest corrective actions
- Develop, review, organize and execute automated tests; continuously assess and improve test coverage for your team’s functional areas
- Be a quality advocate, mentor peers and drive quality of Vivid Seats’ products
Desired Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience testing external, customer facing products preferably in fast paced agile environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of agile testing practices, BDD, and functional and non-functional test types
- Experience in test effort estimation, mapping business requirements to test activities and implementing quality throughout product delivery
- Hands-on experience building, executing, and debugging automated functional tests especially using Selenium and Cucumber
- Experience configuring and using continuous integration pipeline tools like Jenkins
- Excellent communication and prioritization skills with proven ability to multi-task
- Must work well in a results-oriented environment as well as independently
- Must be able to learn new technologies with enthusiasm and a high degree of efficiency
- Passion for constant improvement in quality of products and uncovering hard to find scenarios and defects
- Attention for detail, curiosity and customer focused mindset
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant work experience
