Senior Technical Writer

As our platform evolves, we need a strong senior technical writer to develop and write documentation including user guides, FAQs, lexicon, and other technical material in the industries we serve. If you have previously been a software engineer, we would love to talk to you!

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create and update technical documentation that may include: Dev portals, API documentation, system administration guides, installation guides, user guides, etc., while adhering to best practices in documentation, writing, and editing, and delivering a high-quality product by specified dates


• Organize and maintain online document repository


• Operate under minimal supervision and is able to work very closely with technical architects, developers, and other technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION

• Education: BA or BS degree or equivalent experience


• Experience: 5+ years experience in successfully designing and developing technical writing deliverables within tight timelines and with conflicting priorities


• Experience in writing documents catering to a range of users including technical audiences (developers, implementation team) for installing, operating and debugging software products, end users, and internal customers


• Ability to work collaboratively within Agile environments


• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and browser technologies


• Experience with Angular.js, Git version control, and MadCap Flare highly desirable


• Thorough knowledge of technical documentation and development processes


• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new information and use it to create accurate and comprehensive documentation.


• Professional experience with (online) authoring tools including at least three of the following: Confluence, Microsoft Office suite, Box, and MadCap Flare (or authoring tools that support variations)


• Experience writing for the manufacturing industry a big plus


• Strong critical, analytical, and correlative thinking


• Strong and consistent attention to technical and procedural detail


• Strong copy-editing skills


• Ability to work with minimal supervision
