What you'll do:

The Senior Writer will work with the Chief of Staff and the Office of the CEO to develop, research, and write communication materials including formal speeches, remarks, talking points, articles, blog posts, and other content that articulate the vision and ideas of the CEO. The Senior Writer must have the capacity to find and tell excellent stories that will reach both broad and specific audiences, and a talent for writing and editing in a fast-paced environment that thrives on self-motivation, flexibility, and collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Create a content strategy that effectively positions the CEO as a leader in the predictive data analytics space and our targeted industries, differentiating against competitors and creating thought leadership materials
    • Help determine the most effective way to distribute this content and utilize the right channels to reach the right audiences – including digital, social, events, blog and PR channels
    • Work with resources on the Office of the CEO and the Executive Communications team to execute
  • Conceptualize, research, and draft communication materials for multiple audiences across a variety of mediums
  • Work seamlessly and effectively across departments, including marketing, communications, product, sales, corporate development, data science and leadership to collaborate on materials, meet deadlines and produce GREAT work
  • Write speeches for all external conferences, trade shows, etc. and all internal Uptake events, in collaboration with the Chief of Staff and the Executive Communications team
  • Ensure that all material prepared for the CEO is consistent with briefings and related logistics for the CEO’s speaking engagements
  • Ensure that all speeches and written materials are accurate, fact-checked, and proofed
  • Conduct requested research projects for the office as assigned
  • Monitor and analyze developments and major issues in IOT, tech, and relevant industries to ensure they are appropriately addressed and articulated in the CEO content strategy
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of the Uptake business, products and solutions to effectively communicate that value and articulate it simply and concisely – building the CEO brand externally in general and across specific industries

 

Qualifications:

  • A./B.S. English, Journalism, Communications or other related discipline from an accredited university
  • 5+ years relevant work experience, preferably in business journalism, management or tech consulting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent research, analytical, and storytelling skills
  • Knowledge of grammar usage and editorial style guidelines
  • Attention to detail is critical, along with the ability to grasp and translate technical functions into customer benefits
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, work effectively across a large, fast-paced organization and deliver on priorities
  • Ability to maintain the utmost discretion and diplomacy in interacting with high-level individuals and maintain confidences at all times
  • Experience writing technical, digital or industrial content
  • Creative thinker 
  • Excellent project management skills, including a proven ability to think through all aspects of the process, manage long-term projects and multi-task
  • Driven self-starter with a passion for excellence

Location

We are located in River North just right off the Chicago Brown Line stop. We also provide you with a free shuttle service to/from Ogilvie and Union.
