Job Description
 
In this entry-level “enterprise in-house SEO” role, the SEO Research Analyst contributes to the organic search engine optimization of Cars.com consumer properties. Working under the mentorship of the SEO team, this role facilitates product delivery through keyword, consumer, and market analysis. The Analyst assists in the sharing and discussion of periodic analytics reports and supports the SEO team through scheduled and on-demand reporting and insights.
Responsibilities include:
  • Continually develop organic SEO expertise training, hands-on experience, conference and networking opportunities, and study of industry trends
  • Performing research and analysis in search engine user intent (formerly “keyword research”)
  • Identify content gap opportunities and recommend means to close gaps based on user intent
  • Monitor comprehensive data portfolio including average rankings, click through rates, and pages entering/exiting search results
  • Assist in drafting organic optimization plans to align web content to compatible search engine user intent
  • Assist in tracking, interpreting and communicating SEO traffic analytics
  • Research and analyze performance of competitor sites
  • Maintain regular SEO reports and dashboards
 
 
Required Skills
  • Strong electronic and oral communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Advanced experience with Excel
  • History working with data from multiple third party inputs, combining that data into useful, data-driven reports that guide business decisions
  • Familiarity with website analytics (especially SEO analytics techniques and challenges) and tools such as Adobe Analytics (formerly Omniture), Google Analytics, and/or Tableau a plus
 
 
Required Experience
  • Degree in Marketing, Statistics, or a related field helpful but not required
  • 1-2 years of experience in SEO or a related field such as search engine marketing, user experience, information architect, web product manager or similar role helpful
  • Direct experience with e-Commerce, online classifieds, online data-reporting or large scale web application development initiatives a plus
