Responsibilities

kCura LLC seeks Software Engineer-Engineering Ops. for its Chicago, IL office, responsible for designing, writing, testing, deploying, and supporting new implementations for the tools that drive kCura. Specific responsibilities include: producing high quality code for the full technological stack, from database to UI; assisting with troubleshooting basic issues and improving application system performance by responding to client specific problems and fixing defects; assisting in building highly distributable systems composed of multiple database, processing, and web servers; applying technical skills towards the validation of product quality by smoke testing new code, writing code to test code, including unit tests, automation keywords, and automated test cases; working in close partnership with QA team members by adequately transferring design knowledge and collaboratively identifying scope of impact; assisting with design, building, and write-up of enhancements for kCura’s software; document and demonstrate solutions with a focus on security and performance by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code; actively participating in SCRUM and Agile software processes; and keeping up with industry trends and innovations and apply industry knowledge to the existing codebase.  May be required to handle technical support calls after hours about twice a year. 

Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical field, plus 1 year of experience in the job offered, or as a Software Engineer, Web Developer, Network Administrator Intern, or similar position in software engineering. Qualifying experience must include: Python, C++, CSS, C, Java, PHP, Javascript, C#, VB, Ruby, Objective C or similar development language; SQL Server; SOAP/REST; JSON; AJAX; Web Services; HTTP; enterprise integration patterns; performance tuning; dependency injection / inversion of control tools like castle windsor; test driven development; unit testing through frameworks like NUnit; continuous integration; refactoring; code reviews; agile methodology including scrum; and distributed source control such as mercurial.
