What You'll Do:

As a Solutions Architect, you will design and implement large scale solutions for the agriculture industry. You will be responsible for the enterprise architecture (business/process, data and technical/infrastructure) of the solution where problem solving, data science and petabytes of data meet. Our Center of Excellence (COE) partners with the world’s leading Agriculture equipment manufacturers, seed & chemical manufacturers and growers to develop predictive analytics and decision support software. We utilize data science models, workflow technology and agile software development to create decision making tools that improve grower productivity, maximizes crop yields, lowers input costs and reduces operational & seasonal risk.

Responsibilities:

  • The Design and Architecture of solutions to meet agriculture client requirements that deliver business value. Provide and manage the technical scope of the project.
  • Work with the project teams to construct a project plan that accelerates revenues and delivers short-term benefits.
  • Identify and understand the integration points of the solution including identification of internal and external data sources needed for solutions and creates plans for data migration and federation.
  • Capture requirements during the pre-sales stage and interpret technical requirements and business needs into a solution.
  • Design end-state solutions, and communicate them to internal development teams and customer stakeholders
  • Defines UX/UI interfaces for internal development teams to meet customers’ requirements
  • Collaborate with the Data Science team to prepare data for analysis and model development
  • Manage technical milestones relative to application development, interfaces, configurations, testing and defect management

Qualifications:

  • BS in engineering/MS engineering or technology
  • 4+ years experience working within or with a major equipment manufacturer, Biotech company or environment-focused business
  • 4+ years experience with Agriculture IOT, such as telematics, soil sensors, drones, weather stations
  • Advanced understanding of agriculture business models, processes and financial metrics
  • Strong understanding of concepts and technologies behind big data and predictive analytics, predictive maintenance and the Industrial Internet of Things
  • Strong understanding of precision agriculture technologies
  • Basic understanding of equipment and/or plant health management, diagnostics and prognostics solutions

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with software development tools: Java, Drools, Python or R
  • Understanding of SQL, noSQL database technologies and data ETL technologies
  • Understanding of ESB, MOM or similar message queuing technologies
  • Basic understanding of Hadoop/Spark
  • Basic understanding of machine learning solutions
  • Experience managing software using Jira and Confluence or similar tools
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical concepts
  • Startup experience

Location

We are located in River North just right off the Chicago Brown Line stop. We also provide you with a free shuttle service to/from Ogilvie and Union.
