Solutions Engineer Intern (Rail Vertical)

What You'll Do:
The Solutions Engineer Intern will assist our Solutions Engineers that are part of an important team responsible for developing and implementing large scale, complex solutions based on Uptake’s technologies to solve the inherently difficult business problems of our customers. Whether it is a system to ingest streaming data from hundreds of sensors to detect operational anomalies leading to catastrophic failure of a rotary mining drill - or a solution that helps predict the best course of antibiotics for a hospitalized patient - our Solutions Engineers do the tough work to knock down technical obstacles while managing the human impact of Uptake’s solutions. We want our interns to learn and and function as if they are the Solutions Engineers.
Some of the things you may find yourself doing:
- Understand customer pain points and help prototype and design Uptake solutions to solve them
- Work to identify the internal and external data sources needed for the solution and help with the preparation of the data for the Uptake data science teams
- Partner with the data science team to prepare the data for analysis and model development
- Assist in the effort to build interfaces with the customer’s systems using interface engines
- Configure and deploy a predictive maintenance app for a large fleet of construction equipment
- Actively solicit feedback and help improve Uptake’s delivered solution in the field
- Strategy research/market research
- Competitor deep-dive reports
Qualifications:
- BS/MS with a preferred concentration in Engineering or Computer Science
- Knowledge of software (web and data science) development tools: Java, Python, and R
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database technologies
- Knowledge of data transfer technologies
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical people
