The Senior Director of Implementation is the champion for successful, scaled adoption of digital solutions within the AVIA Innovator Network. You will be responsible for developing processes, competencies and tools that support member health systems in implementing digital solutions that solve critical and complex problems. This is both a strategic and operational role. It is strategic in that you will be responsible for providing thought leadership on the skills and capabilities required by health systems and digital solution companies to innovate in more areas and more effectively. You will also need an operational mindset, with responsibility for ensuring that solutions are taken from initial implementation to scale with emphasis on delivering measurable improvements in quality, operational and financial performance.
 
This role requires the highest levels of teamwork, organization, and attention to detail; but, above all, the frequent partnership with our members, fellow AVIA team members and digital solutions companies demands professionalism, the curiosity to understand, a responsiveness to needs, and a results-driven orientation.
 
This person will have the opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial and evolving work environment, leading the Implementation Team to provide input and consultation to various team within AVIA related to successful implementations. As a company built on helping others innovate, this role must model flexibility, adaptability to change, and the ability to manage ambiguity.
Member Success
Change management: Lead network health systems (at all leaders’ levels) to improve their technology implementation workflow, with a focus on innovation capacity, implementation and meaningful adoption of digital solutions at scale.
Hardwired Adoption: Increase network health systems’ capabilities to sustain strong technology utilization practices and implementations.
Impact: Assure health systems and technology companies, in the context of disciplined project planning and management, define project goals and metrics reflecting the broad impact a project is designed to achieve, and the specific objectives of initial implementation and successive implementations that bring the overall project to scale.
Issue Resolution: Provide senior level expertise to members and digital solution companies to both avoid and aid in the resolution of implementation challenges.
Innovation Capacity: Champion initiatives that expand members’ innovation capacity, primarily to support successful implementations, but also to develop new services, identify opportunities for existing offerings, and generate more revenue from existing offerings and members.
Department Operations
Implementation Standard Work: (1) Develop an array of best practice processes, tools, and techniques for use with health systems and digital solution companies, in support of efficient, effective implementations, (2) Design and use structured Project Management and Issue Management processes and tools for use by AVIA, health systems and digital solution companies, (3) Support Change Management and Risk Identification needs (e.g., understand how specific business functions are impacted by adoption of digital solutions, how they interact within the larger business operations, likely impediments and barriers, and what approaches a health system can take to improve adoption results).
Member to Member Networking: Support and facilitate member to member sharing of implementation best practices,: Oversee member-based Councils to facilitate member-to-member knowledge sharing, development of aggregate solutions to function-specific challenges, share best practices, seek outside expertise, etc. (e.g., Legal Council, IT Ops Council).
Assessments & Activation: Develop and deploy tools to help identify the needs of new members as they enter the network; identify solutions for gaps in their ability to successfully implement digital solutions; create offerings that improve all members’ internal implementation and innovation competencies.
Internal Collaboration
Member Support: work closely with distributed member relationship management team (“Client Ops”) to ensure timely information flow on implementation status, issue resolution, and other pertinent communications, in support of effective member servicing.
Department Management: Build the Capabilities to Act team (direct reports, consultants/advisors, and matrixed staff); perform all administrative functions to hire, manage and develop staff; develop and manage an operating/financial model for the department.
Counsel: Serve as an internal advisor for all aspects of implementation success in various facets of the AVIA business model.
Industry Visibility
Expertise: Support members’ expectation of being part of a leading network of innovative health systems by providing input to case studies, presenting at AVIA offerings, health system meetings, industry forums, etc. Contribute to propelling AVIA forward as a leading subject matter expert in the areas of strategic innovation, capabilities to act within the technology space, digital solution company partnering, and implementation and adoption best practices.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Develop credibility and trust with members and solutions companies from direct experience and a deep understanding of their operating environments, business drivers, and success expectations, managing multiple members, solutions companies, and projects/tasks simultaneously.
  • Troubleshoot by detecting potential issues and implementing solutions when issues threaten to impact implementations and projects.
  • Engage people quickly and motivate interaction, in a variety of settings and communication modes.
  • Effectively communicate and work with all levels of an organization.
  • Work in an evolving entrepreneurial environment as a leader, team member and individual.
Experience and Expectations
  • 10+ years in progressively more complex and accountable healthcare leadership positions
  • Expertise in project management, health system operations, and large-scale and innovative technology implementations
  • Consulting experience desired
  • Masters degree in related field, clinical background strongly preferred (e.g MD, DO, RN, etc)
  • This position is based out of Chicago and requires ~20% travel
