MAIN COURSE (Job Responsibilities):

Responsible for leading a collaborative effort to deliver scalable, highly available technical solutions to help meet or exceed the goals and objectives of The Pampered Chef.  This position has responsibility for all aspects of architecture, implementation and operational support of these systems. This includes, but is not limited to, security and compliance, network and server infrastructure and production support activities.  

  • Ongoing Administration and Support - Provide ongoing administration and subject matter expertise on the software products to the Development, QA and Production operations teams. Continuously look for opportunities to improve performance and participate in capacity planning activities.  Develop scripts to automate routine tasks.  Resolve problems through coordination with peer groups, off shore teams and hosting vendors.  Provide internal technical support.  Crosstrain other technical staff to ensure there are no single points of failure.  Develop standard operating procedures in support of this goal.  Lead the development and maintenance of the Disaster Recovery procedures.  Participate in disaster recovery exercises.
  • Installation and Configuration of Server and Network Hardware - Perform installation and configuration of and Linux and Microsoft server hardware. Apply product updates as outlined in the maintenance schedule, as required to maintain compliance or as requested by other peer groups.  Support third-party software products used at TPC including but not limited to: VMWare, Symantec End Point security, Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, Symantec NetBackup, Windows Enterprise Software suite and Microsoft Office 365.  Work with various other teams (development, business, Web, DBA, etc.) within the organization to propose and implement best practice infrastructure solutions for these software and hardware products.  Provide detailed documentation that includes installation and configuration procedures. 
  • Systems Operations - Perform routine operations, ensuring maximum system availability through close monitoring of network systems, system events, communication links to other systems, storage area connectivity and periodic review of system resources, including CPU utilization, disk usage, memory pools, etc. Be proactive in system improvements and performance.
  • Ongoing Administration and Support - Provide continuous improvement by maintaining a secure, high-availability computing environment by managing hardware, software, and vendors in an evolving LAN and global WAN environment.
  • Customer Support - Provide primary support for Windows, VMWare and Linux server systems and network communications issues. Resolve problems through coordination with local and third-party technical personnel and/or external vendors.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned 
KEY INGREDIENTS (Position Requirements):
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline required.
  • 8+ years of Network Administration experience.
  • In lieu of degree, equivalent computer systems support experience required.
  • Network Certifications, such as: CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Certifications
  • Strong knowledge of local area and wide area networking protocols including TCP/IP.
  • Support VPN devices and have a solid understanding of IPSec, SSL and encryption technologies, using certificates.
  • Demonstrate ability to implement Cisco ASAs, routers, switch, VPNs, and VLANs in a highly secure and highly available/redundant configuration
  • Understanding of network physical infrastructure such as patch panels, fiber cabling and network cable termination.
  • Knowledge of DNS and BIND
  • Experience with designing and implementing solutions based on the Microsoft Server suite. Experience implementing Exchange and Windows Server.
  • Knowledge of LDAP and Active Directory.
  • Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
  • Upgrades network by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
  • Implement and maintain security principles and best practices.
  • Datacenter Infrastructure experience with installation, design and maintenance of racks and cabling.
  • Knowledge of cabling standards.
  • Ability to oversee adherence to and plan according to strict deadlines with reliability and accuracy required.
  • Ability to work in a cross functional team environment.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and incident support as required.
  • Well-developed analytical and troubleshooting skills required. Must be able to determine root cause and effect and apply logic to a problem toward its resolution.
  • Excellent written (problem documentation, internally and externally directed emails, business memos, performance appraisals, project proposals and justifications) communication skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills required; must be comfortable communicating with all levels of TPC internal and external management.
  • Ability to support business critical systems and maintain composure during crisis situations. Flexible work hours, including some evenings and/or weekends.
