Sr. PostgreSQL DBA
What you’ll do all day:
Architect and implement scalable databases. You will work closely with development teams to create reliable databases across multiple platforms like PostgreSQL, MSSQL, and MongoDB. Additionally, you will play a key role in optimizing schema to ensure data consistency and reliability, while acting as a lead in projects around petabyte scale data storage and analytics systems.
Proactively monitor and resolve production issues. You will help find creative ways to resolve database issues like performance, optimizations, and database recovery. You will also help in database installation, capacity planning, and data migration across multiple data centers and database server architectures. Additionally, you will create tools to automate database tasks for better efficiency.
Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions. You’ll find innovative ways to minimize database downtime for planned and unplanned outages. You will be a swift emergency support responder to help produce reliable and effective solutions to database technical issues. Additionally, you will participate in on-call rotation and other duties as needed.

The skills you’ll need to succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related IT field (or equivalent).
Knowledge in managing PostgreSQL systems
5+ years of experience as a DBA with evidence of exceptional ability.
Experience with HA technologies including clustering database systems
Understanding and experience with Linux and Windows Operating Systems.
Extensive experience in automation with a DevOps mindset.
Expertise in setting up replication, backups, monitoring, Database tuning and SQL tuning.
Strong troubleshooting and proactive analytical skills to ensure minimum downtime of production databases.
Strong Shell, Perl, Python and SQL scripting to automate DB related jobs.
Proven ability to work independently or as an integral member of a team.
Excellent communication and documentation skills - ability to work with development teams.
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Idera, etc.
Experience with Mongo and MSSQL databases a plus
Experience with PowerShell a plus.
