SPINS is expanding our accounting team to include a new Staff Accountant that will thrive in our growing and dynamic work environment. Our Accounting team is active within the business, using their skills and expertise to inform, consult, and drive key business initiatives forward. This highly visible role will have immediate responsibility to absorb and improve current processes and make an immediate impact on our internal and external clients. Under the direction of the Controller, this position is a key contributor to the financial operations of SPINS by managing accounting functions with a high degree of integrity, reliability and consistency.

A strong candidate is a quick learner who demonstrates resourcefulness and initiative as well as flexibility to a changing and growing business. Additionally, superior customer service to our clients, vendors, and employees is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring accuracy of the general ledger data by performing daily, recurring routine and moderately complex accounting functions.
  • Assist in operational procedures including sales invoicing, customer service, collection, payable processing, and vendor maintenance.
  • Prepares and posts journal entries, including invoices, accruals and cash transactions.
  • Assists in month-end close process, including intercompany, reconciliations, and ad hoc analysis.
  • Reviews and verifies accuracy of account balances and classifications. Analyzes changes in account balances and makes recommendations to correct errors as appropriate.
  • Maintains supporting schedules and reports related to amortizations, accruals, notes and related recurring accounting activities.
  • Identifies process and control improvement opportunities and works with manager to implement the appropriate modifications.
  • Quickly adapts to changing priorities, managing and clearly communicating deadline risks as new tasks and project arise.
  • Assist with the migration to cloud based accounting platform - Netsuite.
  • Provide support to finance management and other internal customers as needs arise, including ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects
Experience and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from a top tier University
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience including journal entries
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products: Excel, Work, and Outlook.
  • Previous experience with using accounting software in a corporate environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Netsuite experience a plus
  • CPA or CPA eligible
