JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the configuration, implementation, and administration of the organization’s server hardware, operating systems, and applications. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware and server application software. Performs a wide variety of tasks in software/hardware maintenance and operational support. Establish rapport with vendors and carriers. Perform liaison function between other Information Technology teams.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Responsible for configuring, documenting, implementing and troubleshooting the following software products; Microsoft Server Operating Systems and Email Systems, Storage Area Network, Backup products, Anti-Virus products, and Anti-SPAM products
- Maximizing server and storage performance, troubleshooting server problems and outages, and scheduling upgrades
- Responsible for developing the technology architecture of the firm, including but not limited to hardware, software, networking, systems and support processes and procedures.
- Works closely with IT managers to develop strategy and architecture that will benefit the organization as a whole.
- Assesses new technologies and apprise management of changes that may be appropriate to the mission of the company.
- Cross train analysts on process and procedures within the IT department
- Provides support for more complex technical issues
- Other duties as assigned
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Administration of the server operating, messaging infrastructure and storage area network
- Network concept, structure and connectivity
- Oversees daily backup of server data files, media, and offsite storage administration
SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BS in computer related field preferred but not required. (Equivalent experience will suffice)
- Microsoft Certification preferred (Equivalent experience will suffice)
- 2-3 years’ experience with HP, IBM or Dell servers
- 2-3 years’ experience with VMWare or Hyper-V 2008/2012
- 2-3 years’ experience with Windows Server 2008 R2/2012 R2
- 2-3 years’ experience with Exchange 2010/2013
- 2-3 years’ experience with network monitoring tools
- 2-3 years’ providing customer service support
- Strong technical background on IBM PC/AT compatible type of hardware and peripherals
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, SMTP protocol, DHCP, TCP/IP, WINS, and DNS
- Project management skills
- Experience with disaster recovery and planning concepts
- Excellent verbal and writing skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Work as a team member in a fast paced environment
EXPERIENCE A PLUS:
- Experience with Ethernet network environment and peripherals
- Experience with Cisco routers and switches
- Experience with Cisco Unified Communications Solutions; Voice Over IP
