The "Fintech" space is booming and Guaranteed Rate is at the center of it. We are focused on automating the mortgage process for consumers.  Imagine getting a mortgage with no email, no faxing, no stack of papers in 10 days or less instead of 30 or more!! If you have been through the process of buying a home you know how amazing this will be. We are the #8 lender in the country and one of only 2 that is independent (not a bank) so we are in one hell of a good spot to win this race. We have already made tremendous strides and we are looking for strong manager who wants to help us finish the job and disrupt the entire industry.  The team under your responsibility is directly responsible for building out a large component of our digital mortgage product. Cross functional team with size from 5 - 8 individuals including a scrum master, designer and engineers of various types.

Responsibilities

- Help our customers succeed by solving their challenging technical problems, all the way from design through to production operations.

- This includes supervising their team’s workflow, working on hands-on customer issues, and managing problem escalation

- Recruit new members of the team this includes performing resume reviews, phone screens, and in-person interviews, and making hiring decisions.

- Contribute to internal technical projects, which can include software development, benchmarking, building documentation and training guides, and providing oversight on other engineers’ project work

- Optional, but encouraged: interact with the community at meetups and conferences

Requirements

- Strong background in one or more of the following (ideally with some experience in the rest): Complex .com properties, Software development, Application design, Data architecture and design

- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

- The ability to think on your feet, remain calm under pressure, and solve problems in real-time

- Strong diagnostic/ troubleshooting process, with significant experience troubleshooting real, end-to-end technical issues

- The desire and ability to rapidly learn a wide variety of new technical skills

Nice to haves

- Experience coding in one or more of Javascript, CSS, HTML, Ruby, Python, PHP, Java, C#, Javascript and lovely if you know any functional programming

- Experience managing large scale databases (RDBMS or NoSQL or both)
