GrubHub’s Project Manager communicates between technology teams and the rest of the business to ensure that technology initiatives are properly requested, understood, prioritized, specified, and delivered on time with a high level of quality and usability.  Part of the job is to make sure that technology offers the business teams the attention they need as we explode with growth, and another part of the job is to take massive business initiatives and find a way to parse them into more manageable iterations so we can git’er done.  We’re a fast paced bunch, so lots of the typical PM stuff doesn’t always apply – luckily we’re all really friendly so we always figure it out.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Be able to see a project through from start to finish.  Kick it off, track and communicate the progress, and make sure it gets delivered on time and as requested.
  • Understand the business priorities, and use those as a guideline for prioritizing and influencing your own work.
  • You’ll also need to translate a decent amount.  You have to be able to speak with the least technically-minded client (internal or external) and make technology make sense them.  Then turn around and do it the other way.
  • Learn from and contribute to arguably the greatest tech team of all time.  We're organized in small teams and you'll be the a PM for a team of engineers and systems administrators.
  • Be flexible.  This is not a place to set arbitrary deadlines and enforce them to the detriment of your team’s sleeping patterns.
  • Be realistic.  GrubHub is a silly friendly place, but we’re also exploding with growth which means there’s lots of work to get done, and it’s your job to find the balance.  Be nice.  Be firm.  Be everything.
Key Competencies:
  • 3+ years of real experience with project management in the technical operations space.
  • Agile experience a plus as we have to squeeze our work around weekly software deployments.
  • Demonstrated experience with technical infrastructure projects or data center build-outs.
  • Experience managing third-party suppliers required to deliver projects.
  • Experience with initiating and running multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Bachelor's degree required, a computer related discipline preferred.  Deep related experience may take the place of a degree.
  • Mad communication skillz - verbal and written.
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, need we say more?
