As part of the Product Management - Platform team, you’ll be leading the charge defining the path our platform takes to make our company’s mission a reality.

This is primarily a product role, though your innate understanding and passion for technology and how to use it to create innovative solutions will be needed. You’ll get a chance to work with leading edge technologies and a world-class engineering team to deliver new features that delight our users.  In addition, market research, competitor analysis and keeping up with trends in complementary toolsets will be helpful in defining our users’ needs.

Product Manager – Language Generation

We are seeking a highly motivated, technical product manager with a strong linguistics background and experience gathering user requirements, prioritizing roadmaps, and working with a cross-functional team to deliver a first-class user experience. In this role, you will be responsible for defining user stories and features for a critical area of our platform – the language generation. This includes the requirements for a user to define language components and how the system interprets these requirements to produce language. A critical area of focus will be the definition of the requirements and features to enable multi-lingual capability.

Responsibilities

  • Product Development
    • Create and prioritize user stories from epics
    • Own and prioritize backlog for your theme team
    • Gather, consolidate, and prioritize feature feedback
    • Review requirements and business needs with engineers and quality assurance testers to refine and clarify as necessary
    • Validate releases and feature production readiness
    • Send out communications to stakeholders when new features are available
  • Product Strategy
    • Produce and maintain clear and referenceable documentation of your feature envisioning, requirements, and phasing
    • Define primary users, use cases and epics for a feature set
    • Perform market research and competitive analysis on competition and complementary toolsets
    • Be an expert on the user needs for your functional area
    • Use data and user feedback to identify areas of constraint or unnecessary complexity within the user interface; create recommendations on how to address
    • Interface with Customers, Sales, Product, Marketing, and our Editorial teams as necessary to gather feedback and insight on user needs

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in a technical product owner or product analyst role - proven track record of delivering products from conception through launch
  • Academic or professional background in linguistics or natural language systems design and / or development. Must have multi-lingual skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a liaison between stakeholders and engineering teams
  • Experience building enterprise scale platforms and familiarity with data analytics, visualization or business intelligence is preferred
  • Able to navigate ambiguous environments in a growing startup by suggesting process improvements as the organization evolves

Location

We became a distributed workforce in March 2020 as a result of Covid-19 and will remain distributed moving forward. Our Chicago HQ still remains but we want our team to have flexibility around when and where they work.
