The User Experience (UX) team defines and owns the end-user experience of Uptake’s products. Our Interaction Designers collaborate to understand the challenges our partners and end users face, and how Uptake’s products and technologies can solve them.


 


What You’ll Do


As a UX Design Lead, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring the UX design team. This role requires understanding target audience needs, product requirements, and business strategy in order to lead the team, as well as contribute to creation of high-quality, user-centric interactive products. You will deeply understand content with the intent to improve user experience, improve user processes and improve services delivered to the user. You will lead in building a platform that supports workflows across multiple verticals of industry and ensures our users capture the immense value from our solutions. The UX Design Lead work collaboratively with the strategy, product and technology teams.


 


Some of the things you may find yourself doing



  • Working through the entire design process using methods like sketching, storyboarding, diagramming, wireframing, and prototyping for screen-based experiences

  • Leading the definition of interactions standards for branded UX platform

  • Directing design based on UX best practices, user feedback, and client feedback

  • Creating a systematic design language to create cohesive user experiences

  • Focusing on consistency and looking for areas of reuse in UX patterns across platform

  • Maintaining project momentum and keeping projects and the team on track

  • Making timely, informed decisions that take into account the facts, goals, constraints, and risks of a project or task

  • Discussing and defending design decisions; articulating design rationale

  • Defining problems and drawing conclusions based on information in written, oral or diagram form

  • Managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines in a fast paced environment

  • Accurately assessing and estimating work for the team

  • Collaborating with product and technology to develop and improve design process in product development

  • Advocate for and consistently communicate UX design philosophy and best practices across the organization

  • Communicating to cross functional teams

  • Partnering with User Research and Content Strategy team leads

  • Resolving conflicts independently and in a diplomatic manner

  • Being flexible and cool under pressure with the ability to shift as priorities pivot

Qualifications



  • Masters degree in graphic design, human computer interaction or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years real world experience working with cross functional teams

  • Experience working within a user centered design process and transforming user findings in to best-in-class user experiences

  • Experience in developing and scaling a team

  • Proven track record in delivering products

  • Experience in implementing patterns and reusability within and across products

  • Demonstrated command of UX principles of interaction design, especially around workflows, information hierarchy and data visualization

  • Experience designing complex systems, web based applications and tools

  • Experience working with Agile methodologies

  • Experience with Axure, Sketch, and industry standard design tools

  • Knowledge of CSS/HTML

Location

We are located in River North just right off the Chicago Brown Line stop. We also provide you with a free shuttle service to/from Ogilvie and Union.
