Vice President, Marketing at Yello
Company Description

Yello is reinventing recruitment for global organizations by modernizing the talent acquisition processes. Our cloud based software helps multinational, large enterprise companies meet, engage, capture and nurture top candidates - Yello’s transformative talent acquisition technology helps its client-partners excel at hiring the right talent, at the right time. These technologies provide a unique perspective into talent acquisition and the associated key industry metrics and data. With many legacy recruiting software platforms being phased out and many hiring processes still managed without automation, this is a great growth market with tremendous upside.

We’re hiring talented people who believe nothing is impossible. In 2016, we won both a Built in Chicago Moxie Award and an Illinois Technology Association CityLIGHTS Award. Our team members receive support for ongoing learning, a 401k match and competitive health benefits. We’re rapidly growing and proud to be one of Chicago’s fastest growing tech companies. Our downtown Chicago office and work environment is modern and progressive - with lots of natural light, color, open space, amenities and fun. Yello recently received a strategic growth investment by JMI Equity, a leading private equity firm in the software market, which provides stability and long-term career opportunities.

About The Role
Yello (www.yello.co) is seeking an experienced marketing leader to grow and leads it’s marketing and demand generation function. Only experienced enterprise software marketing professionals with previous successful leadership roles will be considered. This position reports to the co-founder and president and is based in Chicago, Illinois.

You are the ideal candidate if:

  • Your employees would walk through a wall for you - because you take the time to develop them and teach them and support them, but you are also demanding and they know you get the best out of them.

  • Your VP of Sales would sarcastically say “I have to admit, for a marketing leader, they are pretty great.” You got there because you focused on doing the hard work of building alignment with sales and partnering with them on driving revenue

  • You have done a bit of everything in marketing and like the variety and challenge of being expert in all areas of marketing. Your team appreciates this because while you don’t micro-manage, you can support them in anything they do and teach them.

  • You consider yourself a machine – you are tireless and relentless. You wake up in the middle of the night thinking about the click-through-rate of the email campaign sent that day or the conversion rate of a new digital ad campaign.

  • When presenting new messaging on product features to sales, they love it, they get it and they use it.

  • You believe all problems can be solved with technology and stay on the absolute cutting edge to find new and creative methods to generate demand. But you also know that your best resources are the people on your team.

  • Your CEO trusts you because you measure everything - not to satisfy the CEO, but to satisfy you. You use data to make better decisions and drive results. You are not afraid to experiment and fail because you use it to learn and drive improvement.

  • Your creativity is a bit off the charts. You regularly have people say “that is a great idea”.

  • You are not afraid to take control and lead, but you are mature enough to not need to control. You work really well with other executives because you don’t make it about you.

  • You are not intimidated by working in an environment with very smart, very driven, and very technical. You can keep up with them intellectually and like being around people like this.

How You'll Make An Impact
  • Develop and implement a modern lead generation strategy that sources a material percentage of leads for sales and influences a majority of all opportunities.

  • Working with management, develop effective product messaging and go-to-market strategy that are adopted by sales.

  • Create a process for product and feature launches that educate employees, sales, customers and the market; create excitement and interest.

  • Create integrated marketing campaigns for net-news, cross-sells and upsells.

  • Demonstrate expertise and passion for modern, progressive marketing techniques

  • Create strong brand awareness through influencers, AR, PR and speaking engagements.

  • Update marketing tech stack to support high growth and account-based marketing

  • Develop metric and reporting that not only provides management and sales with insight into marketing's contribution, but more importantly informs good decision making and continuous improvement.

  • Support Sales, SE’s and BDR’s with sales enablement tools and marketing assets that get used and impact close rate.

  • Closely partner and align yourself with sales management on priorities, messaging and approach. Become jointly responsible for revenue attainment.

  • Create and manage a marketing budget that helps maximize marketing spend. Get the most out of your budget by measuring results and looking to freelancers and agencies where appropriate.

  • Create compelling content (white papers, webinars, video) that generate inbound interest and supports the sales process.

  • Develop and implement an events strategy that gets the most out of events - awareness, leads and pipeline acceleration.

  • Hire and develop a team of independent, competent, motivated marketing professionals who work well together, are respected by sales and their peers, and who show good judgement and decision making.

As a college intern with Yello, I attended the company’s annual conference and was able to see first-hand the impact Yello’s technologies have on some of the world’s biggest companies. That’s what drew me in and now, five years later, I still enjoy working to make a difference for our clients.
