The User Experience (UX) team defines and owns the end-user experience of Uptake’s products. Our Interaction Designers collaborate to understand the challenges our partners and end users face, and how Uptake’s products and technologies can solve them.

 

What You’ll Do

As a Visual Designer, you will be responsible for understanding target audience needs, product requirements and business strategy in order to transform them into high-quality, user-centric, interactive products. You will deeply understand content with the intent to improve user experience, improve user processes and improve services delivered to the user. You will contribute to building a platform that supports workflows across multiple industry verticals and ensures our users capture the immense value from our solutions. Visual Designers work collaboratively with User Researchers and Interaction Designers, as well as, the strategy, product and technology teams.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Defining a unique look and feel for Uptake’s branded product experiences
  • Creating highly usable, on-brand and forward-thinking visual designs
  • Creating a systematic visual design language to create cohesive user experiences
  • Crafting beautiful icons, controls and visual elements
  • Creating, maintaining and evolving visual treatments that adapt and flow with responsive design systems
  • Producing standards and style guides for creating interactive, user-centered products
  • Focusing on consistency and looking for areas of reuse in visual patterns across platform
  • Ensuring all products live up to the highest quality of Uptake’s visual standards
  • Delivering detailed, annotated high fidelity mock-ups with supporting assets for implementation
  • Revising and updating designs based on user and client feedback
  • Communicating to cross-functional teams, advocating for best UX practices
  • Discussing and defending design decisions, articulating design rationale
  • Making timely, informed decisions that take into account the facts, goals, constraints and risks of a project or task
  • Contributing to brainstorming sessions, rapid-iteration and sketching
  • Managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Accurately assessing and estimating work
  • Being flexible and cool under pressure with the ability to shift as priorities pivot

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human graphic design or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years real-world experience working with cross functional teams
  • Demonstrated command of visual design principles, especially around typography, iconography, information hierarchy, responsive design and data visualization
  • Demonstrated experience working within a user-centered design process and transforming user findings in to best-in-class user experiences
  • Experience in time-based animations in web applications and tools
  • Experience designing complex visual systems
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies
  • Experience with Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and industry standard design tools
  • Strong knowledge in visual/interactive/motion design trends
  • Experience designing for touch and mobile devices
  • An in-depth understanding of HTML, capabilities of web browsers

Location

We are located in River North just right off the Chicago Brown Line stop. We also provide you with a free shuttle service to/from Ogilvie and Union.
