What You'll Do:

The Vice President of People will report to the CEO and will be responsible for leading the entirety of the human resources function including recruiting, organization development, compensation, benefits, diversity and inclusion. The Vice President of People will be a key member of the leadership team, and help increase the presence and participation of underrepresented groups at Uptake. 

The ideal candidate will be first and foremost, a leader. S/he will have a successful and responsible track record of Human Resources leadership within companies that are well regarded for outstanding cultures. The candidate would ideally have experience at a world class technology company. They will also have experience jumpstarting or executing diversity initiatives.
Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee all aspects of human resources including talent acquisition and retention, rewards and recognition, performance management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, culture, training, and organizational and leadership development.
  • Lead the organization in talent management and recruitment, acting as a talent magnet for the company.
  • Embed a culture of diversity and inclusion across the enterprise.
  • Develop progressive compensation and benefits programs to provide motivation, incentives and rewards for effective performance.
  • Ensure operational excellence and efficiency of the function.
  • Lead the HR team’s efforts to be competitive and innovative with respect to compensation, executive compensation, and total rewards.
  • Partner with the leadership team in creating an environment in which the culture continues to be a key factor in the growth and retention of talent and adds to business success.
  • Assess current practices, identify issue areas, and recommend changes to increase hiring and retention of talented minority candidates. 

Qualifications:

  • 15 – 20 years of HR/business experience.
  • A degree in Human Resources or related field. An advanced degree, ideally MBA or PhD.
  • Demonstrated background in talent management and development.
  • Experience helping high growth companies thrive, and to expand to new offices.
  • Strong capability in compensation design, strategy and execution.
  • Experience leading large, diverse global HR teams.
  • Experience creating and building diversity and inclusion programs.
  • Effective influencer and collaborator.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strategic workforce planning experiences.
  • Strong and demonstrated experience working cross functionally to improve processes and the overall employee experience.

In addition, the candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • The individual will be an aggressive executor, someone who wants to move fast
  • Dynamic leader with exceptional influencing skills and the ability to partner
  • Someone who can be an empathetic mentor with the ability to motivate
  • Holds strong beliefs and opinions around areas for improvement within the organization followed by thoughtful engagement in making those changes.
  • Able to articulate ideas clearly and thoughtfully.
  • Can communicate effectively to a broad demographic of individuals including but not limited to operations, engineering groups, sales teams and executive staff.
  • Critical thinker with the ability to provide real-time analysis and recommendations during meetings.
  • Both confident and humble.
  • Smart, self-motivated and passionate
  • An expert talent evaluator, and builder of great teams. Most importantly, the ideal candidate will be a team builder, team player, and a leader.

Location

We are located in River North just right off the Chicago Brown Line stop. We also provide you with a free shuttle service to/from Ogilvie and Union.
