Windows IT Systems Administrator

Vail is a software engineering company that develops technology to produce innovative solutions for customers. Vail’s hosted systems and services support the voice needs of Fortune 500 enterprise customers, including state-of-the-art IP telephony, IVR, call routing, contact center integrations, and cutting edge real-time analytics, as well as other research initiatives. Vail IT Systems Administrators implement, maintain, monitor, design, and secure IT infrastructure supporting Vail’s highly technical staff responsible for software development, systems integration, and voice services hosting in a high-availability carrier-grade environment.

Responsibilities

  • Patching
  • Platform, voice, and web application deployments
  • Trouble-shooting issues at the network, systems, and voice platform levels
  • Virtualization and managing virtual environments, including VMware, Hyper-V, Docker
  • Automation and scripting
  • Participating on project teams
  • IT systems management
  • Configure host-based firewalls with group policy
  • System hardening to meet compliance standards
  • Open, track, and close all service requests, as well as manage the classification, assignment, tracking, and timely completion of requests
  • Remotely troubleshoot servers
  • Web server administration (IIS)
  • Certificate management
  • Handle escalations from the Helpdesk team when problems arise beyond their expertise
  • New product/technology evaluation

  • Microsoft Windows 2008, 2012, 2016, Netwrix, Nessus, Wireshark, JIRA, Confluence, Alfresco, DNS, Sophos, IBM Tivoli (BigFix), WSUS, Group Policy, Active Directory, Zimbra, Microsoft Enterprise CA, Centrify, DFS, Powershell, Hyper-V, VMware ESXi , Dell servers, Mac OSX, IOS, Android, Cent OS 7, Dell EqualLogic SAN Storage

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS, MIS, IT, or equivalent field experience
  • 7+ years’ experience managing Microsoft Windows Server Operating systems
  • 1+ year experience Linux server administration

 

Skills

  • Effective with troubleshooting problems on multiple OS platforms with standard networking concepts (TCP/IP, Windows Networking, VPN)
  • Possess strong documentation skills and a desire to use them
  • The ability to solve problems independently
  • Ability to work effectively in high pressure situations
  • Works well on a team
  • Experience with ticketing systems such as JIRA
  • Demonstrated ability in configuring Active Directory and Group Policies in an enterprise environment
  • Experience with Macintosh OS X integration with Active Directory a plus
  • Familiarity with configuring PCI, HIPPA, or other secure environments a plus
  • A desire to learn about new technologies
  • Experience implementing and operationalizing new enterprise infrastructure applications such as AV, backups, security auditing software, AD, ticketing systems, email, file shares, etc.
  • Mobile support experience for iOS, Android, and MDM solutions

 

Logistics

  • Available for off-hours deployments and maintenance
  • Participate in on-call rotation for issue handling and incident response, including after hours
