We are seeking a highly motivated professional Senior Accountant to join our energetic and dynamic accounting team. The successful candidate will be able to work independently, in a fast-paced work environment. Responsibilities include accounting ownership over revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and software capitalization. This position will prepare journal entries and monthly balance sheet account reconciliations as well as complete analytical reviews, ensure data integrity, and monitor compliance with accounting policies.
This role will be based in Syndigo's office in Nashville, TN or Chicago, IL.
Key responsibilities

  • Analyze financial information relating to deferred revenue waterfalls and revenue trends by customer and product line
  • Calculate monthly labor costs to recognize as capitalized software; estimate and record outside labor accruals for a multitude of vendors
  • Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606
  • Prepare general journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations, ensure reconciliations are prepared and reconciling items are resolved timely
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Fielding and resolving inquiries from management (including CFO), FP&A, and external auditors; liaising with billings team
  • Assist in external audit including preparation of audit support schedules and footnotes for the financial statements
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Driven, high energy and enthusiastic individual with the ability and desire to work under pressure and deliver timely and accurate results
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and principles
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
  • Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant
  • 3-5 years of experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or equivalent business/financial role; minimum of 2 years in public accounting preferred
  • Exposure to rules and regulations pertaining to foreign operations is a plus
  • SaaS experience is preferred
