The Security Advisory Team sits at the unique intersection of new security challenges and evolving business capabilities. It falls to us to identify the new technologies the business wants to use and ensure our security team is ready to properly protect them. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to formally review a new technology project, determine if it meets CNA cybersecurity requirements, and identify opportunities for the team to better protect the technology.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Program Features and Benefits:
- Research and assess the risk of emergent cybersecurity threats and system deficiencies
- Operate as a project team member for efforts across the IT organization providing support to Security Advisors
- Partner on Information Security reviews with experienced cybersecurity leaders to advise the business on potential cybersecurity concerns.

- Work directly with experienced CNA Information Security staff to understand real-world cyber-threats
- Apply risk assessment practices to understand the potential impact of IT projects and changes to CNA

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Must be a sophomore, junior or senior (undergraduate) or in first year of Master's program pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physical/Life Sciences, or related field
- Knowledge of Information Security and Application Security
- Knowledge of Systems and Network Architecture
- Ability to research and analyze technical concepts
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, and the ability to cultivate and maintain positive business relationships
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Effective problem solving, analytical aptitude, learn quickly and embrace change
- Ability to learn and change quickly
Key Deliverables:
- Provide formal cybersecurity advice on an in-flight IT project under the supervision of a lead security advisor
- Present analysis and findings on at least 5 proposed changes, projects or requests to Security Advisory Team
Key Learning Outcomes:
- Understand the basic process of risk analysis
- Understand what constitutes a cybersecurity threat, vulnerability and risk
- Learn about the structure and make-up of a Fortune 500 Cybersecurity department
- Research methods to understand available solutions/thought leadership
- Presentation skills on technical concepts in a corporate environment
Program Location:
CNA's corporate headquarters is located in the heart of downtown Chicago at 151 N Franklin St, near all public transportation from the city and suburbs. The role will be hybrid with at least 3 days in the office each week.
