Can a Senior Analyst grow communities by helping merchants thrive?

Groupon’s mission is to become the daily habit in local commerce and fulfill our purpose of building strong communities through thriving small businesses by connecting people to a vibrant, global marketplace for local services, experiences and goods. In the process, we’re positively impacting the lives of millions of customers and merchants globally. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success. If you want to take more ownership of your career, then you're ready to be part of Groupon.

Groupon Goods, the retail arm of our business, is a daily one-stop shop for brand-name essentials and unexpected, one-of-a-kind finds. For our merchants, this means massive exposure, smart promotion, and reliable fulfillment. For our customers, this means great deals on a variety of products ranging from electronics to clothing, home goods to beauty.

Working in Goods, you will join a retail-savvy team whose goal is to procure and provide customers with the products they want, when they want them. As a Senior Transportation Analyst, you will be completing deep analytics related to transportation expense & service. You will work closely with the Manager of Transportation to continuously identify opportunities to optimize the shipping function and report out on variances. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a self-starter looking to make a large impact in a fast-growing business.

We're a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact. We're curious, fun, a little intense, and kind of obsessed with helping local businesses thrive. Does that sound like a great way to grow your career? Let's get into the details:

Responsibilities:

  • Craft data and complete analysis related to overall transportation and logistics initiatives

  • Monitor actual transportation metrics against projected forecasts and raise variances appropriately; report out monthly variances

  • Monitor and improve shipping compliance and review/approve invoices as required

  • Partner with internal groups (Finance, Tech, Operations, Marketing, Buying, etc.) to develop and implement updates to known issues

  • Complete transportation and financial analysis

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or Master's degree in Logistics, Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management preferred

  • 2+ years of experience working with large data sets; retrieving/completing analysis and communicating actionable results

  • Understanding of basic financial accounting concepts preferred

  • Understanding of supply chain, basic understanding of the administration of transportation contracts, cost and service drivers preferred

  • You’re deeply analytical, and have a high comfort level with Microsoft Excel and SQL

  • You're a creative problem solver who identifies problems unilaterally and recommends effective plans of action

  • You’re able to work independently, take initiative, and remain flexible in an ever-changing environment

  • You're a details person with a penchant for preparing meticulously accurate work
