InContext Solutions raises $6.35 million to enhance Sims-like retail virtualizations

InContext Solutions, a five-year-old SaaS based market research company, closed a $6.35 round last week from existing investors, which include local Hyde Park Venture Partners and Ann Arbor-based Plymouth Venture Partners.

The round, which puts the firm’s total funding at over $9 million, came soon after it released its industry leading ShopperMX SaaS platform in mid-2013. ShopperMX, a web-based DIY shopper marketing platform, giving retailers and manufacturers the ability to leverage 3D virtual stores to conceptualize marketing strategies.

“With incredible traction in the first six months since launch, and seeing the opportunity to expand the platform functionality and accelerate growth, we called on our existing roster of investors for additional funding, to which they responded with great enthusiasm,” CTO and co-founder Tracey Wiedmeyer said.

ShopperMX builds off the innovative 3D movies, the leasable ShopperLab screen and web-based virtual market research services that InContexthas been offering since early 2009. The team’s new product allows for easy collaboration across multiple platforms “to empower users with an easy drag-and-drop interface, that reduces time and costs associated to bringing ideas from concept to reality,” Wiedmeyer said.

The “concept to reality” mantra has always been at the core of InContext - and is what has earned the company multiple accolades from the Illinois Technology Association and Forbes while landing many top customers off the Fortune 50 Consumer Packaged Goods roster. Now, the 60-person InContext plans on drastically increasing shareholder value with its newest product.

“2014 will be even more exciting for InContext, as all the hard work from the previous 18 months continues to materialize into a significant market advantage,” Wiedmeyer said.
